Honey Nutters

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2012
I have just finished making these and do find them very sweet. I used the 16 squares of low fat graham crackers and found I had 1 cup of crumbs not 1/2 like someone else said. I added all the crumbs and mixed well. I didn't have any powdered milk so I skipped that. I used a teaspoon to scoop out the balls and put them on a wax paper covered cookie sheet. I put the coconut in a large baggie. I picked up each ball and rolled it in my hand then put it in the coconut . Once I had 2 or 3 balls in there I shook the bag and then rolled it in my hands again. My hands stayed fairly clean and I had no trouble with the coconut sticking. I just put them in the freezer because I found them very soft and also want to save them for Christmas.

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
I made this last night and this recipe is a keeper. I halved the recipe and made it in a 9x9 glass dish (there's only the 2 of us). I agree that brushing the butter on is better. I poured it on and because it wasn't completely smooth the butter pooled in the low spots. I also added almond extract and then spread some melted cherry jam on before I put the top on. I did have some trouble closing the perforations (they opened up when I lifted it into the pan) but I just closed them up again. So what if the top has these little gaps. They mostly close up in the cooking. It was delicious and my husband wants me to make it again. I'll try different jams or toppings next time and maybe try it with puff pastry. I think you can do a lot to this recipe.

Green Beans with Bread Crumbs

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
I have been making this for years. I have always sauteed the breadcrumbs first. It gives the dish a pleasant toasty flavour. I have also used these same toasted crumbs on cauliflower, delicious.
