The love of my life
Hard at work
About this Cook
I'm a nursing student/bartender who picked up a pan and a spatula one day and fell in love. I started out with many little disasters (thank God for my loving and patient friends and family. hehehe)... but I've learned a lot through trial and error. Now, even if I may say so myself, I throw the dinner parties that everyone waits for.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, seafood and dessert... and in that order! Really though, I try to make something different every chance I get. My honey is a very happy man. lol.
My favorite family cooking traditions
With my Japanese and Mexican heritage, Tamales from scratch and traditional style mochi with my family during Christmas time.
My cooking triumphs
I planned and pulled of 7 dish dinner party for 25 people on my mother's birthday. I got rave reviews all around and at the end of the night my mother lovingly said to me, "Gee, who knew you could cook so well. Sure didn't get it from me... ".
My cooking tragedies
LOL... my very first attempt at stir fry. Can you say *chewy* stir fry soup? I can't believe my then boyfriend actually swallowed that first (and only!) bite. haha, unforgettable.

My fiancee and our best man raved that this was, "restaurant worthy, if not better!" I took a lot of tips from previous reviewers and this is what I came up with: 2 mashed avocados, 1 cut into tiny cubes, add 1/4-1/2 tsp cumin, leave out the seeds of the tomatoes, extra garlic and onions, leave the pits of the avacadoes in the guac and instead of mixing in the lime juice, just layer it over the top of the guac til ready to serve, then stir well. LOVE IT!!

Chocolate Eclair Dessert
Wow! This is fantastic. I'm a little late reviewing but oh well. ;) I made this for V-Day and it worked out fabulously! Make it the night before, fridge it for at least 8 hours so the graham crackers get soft (like prev. stated). I too used the french vanilla cool whip and pudding mix. Also, use the chocolate sauce recipe given by the other viewer - it's super tasty. I spread a thin layer of it on the bottom of the pan. My honey had 2 BIG pieces after a huge dinner! Yummy!!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust
Fantastic! Perfect crust everytime. I added just a dab of white sugar for sweetness and used with a pumpkin pie recipe from this site. Thanks!
