Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2014
What zing! A little hot for me but my son and husband give it 5 stars. One reviewer suggested sautéing onions and peppers before browning chicken, then adding them to the sauce along with the chicken while the sauce boils down. The onion and peppers soaked up a lot of heat. I will add them back in at the very end next time. I will definitely make this again.

Seasoned Swai Fish Fillet

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2013
Hot with that amount of pepper. My son who adds hot sauce to everything loves this fish just the way it is. Those of us who like things less spicy need half the suggested amount of pepper at most.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2013
I followed the suggestions of reg927 for making this sauce, then used probably 1/4 cup cream in place of some of the milk reg927 suggested. I served this with the baked herb perch fillet recipe...minus the bread crumbs, doubling the Parmesan cheese and baking in the melted butter in a 9x13 pan...on this website and steamed cauliflower. A monochromatic meal but garnered me great compliments. :-)

Mrs. Fields Cookie Recipe II

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
I'm comparing this recipe to mine from the 80's. I've made these cookies many times and 1) half this batch is more than enough fo me 2). Forget the blender. Use your food processor. You will save lots of time. 3) After you add the eggs, beat until fluffy. 4) use a 4 oz Hershey chocolate almond bar. Chop it up using a large knife and a cutting board. The pieces don't need to be even. That's one of the best things about this cookie. 5) Bake on ungreased cookie sheet. 6) My recipe says to bake 6-10 minutes at 375. A lower temp might be better but I have always had success at 375. 7) Don't overbake...which means take them out as soon as the edges begin to brown, even though they won't look done, This is my all-time favorite cookie recipe. It takes time. I have had great luck with the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe on this sight where I substituted 1 cup of flour with a cup of ground up oats. Guess where I got that idea. ;-) I didn't use the nuts in that recipe so I can't vouch for how it will turn out with nuts. But if you want a recipe that is a tad easier than this one...you might try that one.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2013
Still soft on the inside and crispy on the outside 2 days later. (Stored in ziplock bag.). Didn't add nuts because the grandsons aren't keen on nuts in cookies. Perhaps those who thought the dough was too dry added finely chopped nuts? Can't imagine this recipe not working for anyone. I found it second only to the Mrs Field's, aka Nieman Marcus, chocolate chip cookie recipe...you know...the one the person was charged $250 for rather than $2.50...then sought sweet revenge by sharing with everyone. Urban myth notwithstanding, it remains my favorite. ;-)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
Lightly coat in garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper. Brown on every side in skillet in a little olive oil over medium heat. Then add to the mixture in crockpot. One cup of water was plenty. Very tender and flavorful. With browning beforehand this is a 5 star recipe.

Baked Butter Herb Perch Fillets

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
We aim for low carb meals with a diabetic in the family so I used 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese and didn't use any bread crumbs. It came out great. Obviously the recipe is changed quite a lot without adding the bread crumbs...but the seasonings, the butter, the tenderness of the filets after about 25 minutes...these make this recipe a 5 star recipe!

Have been eating quite a bit of quinoa the past few months. Neither my husband nor I liked this.

Grilled Pork Loin Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
I made the marinade and prepared the chops for grilling...then left for another commitment. My husband grilled the chops. I hear that they were amazing...so good, in fact, that my husband and son ate every last bite!

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
I broil this...4-6 inches away from heating element...more like 4 minutes per side until it flakes. Absolutely one of our all-time favorite recipes! I was really disappointed the last time I ordered salmon at a restaurant. It wasn't nearly as good as "mine". :-)

I absolutely love simple things that elicit compliments. This recipe was quick and flavorful. I would never have considered adding lime..but it's definitely a winner!

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
Had to make a few substitutions because I didn't have everything on hand. Used chicken broth in place of beef broth. Used one can chopped tomatoes and added Italian seasoning. Used light kidney beans (drained because I always drain that thick stuff off canned beans). We all loved it.

Skillet Zucchini

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
I used Italian bread crumbs (mrs. Shockley's suggestion), substituted browned ground sausage for the bacon and used the cheddar mix on hand (probably cheddar/jack) rather than plan cheddar. Amazing side. Rave reviews from my husband and son!

Honey Limeade

The honey is a bit overwhelming. If I use this recipe again I will try it without the honey and add additional sugar if necessary.
