About this Cook
I'm a grad student in bioengineering at Clemson. I cook almost always for myself, but entertain friends sometimes too.
My favorite things to cook
I like to work with fat. Oils, dairy fats, and especially animal fats. I believe a balance between those three fat sources is the most important aspect of your diet. I also like cooking on a puny budget. I will shell out for something I know is fantastic, but I don't even look at recipes with lots of stuff I don't have.
My cooking triumphs
Soups, pizzas, pulled pork, pancakes
My cooking tragedies
Frying potatoes almost never comes out as well as I want. Also had bad luck with dump cakes.

Creamy Sweet Potato With Ginger Soup
This came out very good, and the directions are clear and easy to adapt. Very impressive end product. I used curry powder and ham broth in mine and added ham. For more interesting texture blend the potatoes while still a little firm and then simmer with all ingredients to finish.

Easy Swedish Pancakes
These come out looking great, but they are flabby on the inside. I tried turning down the heat so they could cook longer and heat through more, but these thin pancakes tasted too watered down.
