I'm a grad student in bioengineering at Clemson. I cook almost always for myself, but entertain friends sometimes too.
My favorite things to cook
I like to work with fat. Oils, dairy fats, and especially animal fats. I believe a balance between those three fat sources is the most important aspect of your diet.
I also like cooking on a puny budget. I will shell out for something I know is fantastic, but I don't even look at recipes with lots of stuff I don't have.

Soups, pizzas, pulled pork, pancakes
My cooking tragedies
Frying potatoes almost never comes out as well as I want. Also had bad luck with dump cakes.
