About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
i love to make bread, but i don't do it very often. i have two pre-school age boys who keep me very busy, but when i get the urge and the time i make some bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my grandmother used to enlist the help of all those who joined us for thanksgiving dinner the day after to make "hard tack" candy. it was a hot, somewhat dangerous job, but if you helped you got to take home a bag of candy and you had some influence over the flavors made. i hope to resurect this tradition in the near future.
My cooking triumphs
i make the best gumbo ever and a really great pot roast too.
My cooking tragedies
i'm not great with baked goods that have to be decorated. they come out delicious but ugly.

Pork Chops to Live For
very good! used this when someone requested my crock pot pork chops and i couldn't find the recipe - i eventually located the other recipe and decided this one sounded better and made it instead - it was a hit and i'll make this one from now on.

Julia's Easy Slow Cooker Chicken
good! followed another reviewer's advice and used water not milk and cooked for 4 hours on high - it was a very yummy lunch and ready for us when church was over.
