Dee's Health Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2014
My family loves this bread, it's my go-to healthy recipe. I generally cut the recipe in half to only make 3 loaves, and it always works out. In the past I have forgotten to add the molasses and it was still delicious. I always make it in my Kitchenaid stand mixer. I can never find cracked wheat, so I just use 100% natural wheat bran (not the cereal). I also just use all-purpose flour, not bread flour.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2014
I used Honey Crisp apples, they have a great flavor (sweet with a slight tartness) and so I think I should have reduced the white sugar- mine turned out quite sweet. I followed the top review that said to reduce the water to 1/4 cup, but found there was quite a bit of liquid on the bottom. I am not sure I'll add water the next time I make it. It is delicious though, and makes the house smell like fall. Definitely worth making!

Blueberry Waffles with Fast Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2014
The only thing I added was a splash of vanilla. With the blueberries inside I thought they were delicious, even though I was concerned they'd be lacking flavor without some sugar- I will likely not add any because they were great! I like how crisp they are on the outside- I have found it hard to find a recipe that comes out crisp with a tender inside. Definitely saving this recipe! 1 and 3 year old loved them

Tasty Lentil Tacos

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2014
Delicious! A new family fave, we eat it every 2 weeks or so. I added a bit more taco seasoning. Yum! Updated: I have even made this with water (not chicken broth) and it turns out great

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2014
YUM. I made a few changes- I added a clove of garlic to the yogurt sauce to give it more flavor. I also used about 1/2 an onion in the mixture (instead of a whole), I substituted baking soda for the baking powder, and used only a 1/2 c. or so of breadcrumbs. I also formed the patties and dipped them in breadcrumbs- I thought it would help make them crispy but it didn't do much. I made 9 patties and put 2 on each pita. (Served with chopped cucumber, chopped tomato, feta, and chopped green onions) Will definitely make them again!

Our Favorite Balsamic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
Delicious! Easily cuts in half. I did not have a shallot so I omitted it. I also did not measure the honey, so I might have added about 1/2 tsp more. Served on a salad of mixed greens, chopped pear, slivered almonds, and feta cheese. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Decadent Challah Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
I have made this recipe many times and it always turn out nicely. The bread has a great texture and is delicious alone or with poppyseeds or sesame seeds sprinkled on top after using an egg wash. I have made it with olive oil and replaced it with canola oil and could not tell a difference. I have not tried the glaze. I use my Kitchenaid stand mixer and let the dough hook knead for about 5 minutes. This bread makes wonderful French toast and Croque Monsieur sandwiches. I make it several times a month. Thanks for the great recipe!

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
Made this for a work breakfast, I cooked it right before and it kept hot for us to eat! It travels very well. I did omit the butter and the cornflake topping, and substituted a can of cream of mushroom soup. I also used green onions and added some garlic powder and seasoning salt. I brushed about 2 TBSP of melted butter on top before baking. I will definitely make this again.

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
Delicious, made it with light mayo and added a very heaping spoon full of sweet pickle relish. I think the lemon juice really adds to the flavor!
