All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
This makes a wonderful apple butter. It is quite sweet, but not so much to make it cloying. The applesauce halfway through cooking isn't half bad either!

Wild Grape Starter

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
This worked really well for me. I didn't notice any bubbles in the grape juice, and I had to scrape off a few mold spots a couple of days in the middle. (Occasional stirring would probably have prevented the mold). After that the yeast was strong enough to prevent mold growth and now (about 1 week) it bubbles at the rate I would expect from a mature starter. I'm starting my first bread from this starter today.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
These were quite awesome. We subbed out the first 3 ingredients for self-rising flour and added a dash of vanilla, but otherwise kept it the same. We used a stand mixer. The pancakes came out perfectly; not too heavy or floury, and they were delicately crisp on the outside. Way better than the mix type pancakes!

Easy and tasty! These didn't last long. I plan to try making it completely from scratch when I run out of bisquick.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
This needs more stars! I made a loaf (and cooked it almost twice as long). The top tastes like an amazing chocolate chip cookie. With banana. The bread itself is everything you could hope for in a banana bread, and more. My mods (unnecessary, but you know how I am): I added some cinnamon, subbed in half a cup of whole wheat flour with the regular, subbed in a couple of spoons of coconut oil with the veggie oil, and subbed in a smidge of natural demerara sugar with the white sugar.

Cake Batter Ice Cream

Reviewed: May 17, 2011
I made this with yellow cake mix, and substituted one cup of half&half for one cup of the cream (it was what I had on hand). It came out tasting exactly like cake batter (ie, wonderful)! I think it might even be a little better than the local chains. :D

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
We love this recipe! It's so easy to make or to customize. I prefer it with just 1 pound of beef and I usually make it with fresh garlic and more tomato stuff than in the recipe (tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salsa). We use different bean combinations every time too. Black beans blend in quietly. A really great pantry stashbuster!
