Bacon Chicken II

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2011
I make a similar recipe and it's really pretty good, you just need to adjust it to your taste. I salt and pepper lightly pounded chicken breasts, layer a single strip of bacon over each, and then I brush the BBQ sauce over each piece (on top of the bacon). The bacon doesn't get super crispy, but neither does the bacon on a filet mignon. It's more about the flavor. It's a great recipe for those days when your plans to bbq get rained out. My family really enjoy it served with baked beans and garlic bread.

Vegetable Fried Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
This was really good. I used vegetable oil and a little bacon grease to saute the chopped onion. I also added chopped carrots & frozen peas. The dish was delicious served along side baked salmon.

Beef Bacon Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
These were quite good. I clarified the butter as suggested by another reviewer. I also only used a/b 1/3 cup. After I cooked them, I removed them & added 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar to the sauce in the pan and 3 tbs. brown sugar, and reduced it to a nice glaze, then ladled it over the beef rolls. Everyone enjoyed it and my husband said it's a "make again".

Play Dough Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
These were quite tasty and fun to make. Be sure to return the dough you aren't working with to the fridge so it stays chilled. As soon as it warms up, it becomes difficult to coil. I was really impressed with how pretty these turned out. And they were good, too.

Different Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
Really yummy. I made some substitutions b/c I didn't have all the ingredients on hand. Instead of wine I used chicken broth, I didn't have sour cream so I omitted that. I didn't add salt to the sauce because I thought the ham and the soup added enough salt. Also, I pounded the chicken and rolled the ham & cheese up in traditional ckn cordon bleu style and dotted each piece with a dab of butter and then topped with the sauce. I didn't use bread crumbs b/c my son doesn't like them. Even with the omissions this was still wonderful. I'll definitely make again. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken in a Pot

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
I doubled the sauce as suggested and I was glad I did. It was a good recipe, but the sauce was a little thin. I think I will add diced tomatoes next time. My hubby said it's a "make again".

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
This sauce was wonderful. I used brown sugar instead of honey and I did not add anchovy paste as I didn't have any on hand. My husbands pizza was almost perfect but the sauce just wasn't quite right. This was the recipe we needed to make it the perfect pizza.

Special Irish Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
I didn't have time to brown the beef so I just put it in a crock pot and tossed with flour, salt, and pepper. I used Killians Red Beer which isn't as strong. I added all the remaining ingredients and cooked on high for 4 hours. It turned out really tasty and was even better the second day.

Sauteed Mushrooms in Garlic

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
This was simple and tasty. My son wanted sauteed mushrooms and had tried making some on his own, causing the smoke detector to go off in our kitchen. I pulled this recipe up for him to try so he could learn to saute. He really liked it. We ate them with spaghetti and meat sauce.

Pan-Seared Chicken Breasts with Shallots

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
I followed this recipe exactly as it read. It's a good basic recipe, but it's a little bland. I wouldn't make it exactly like this again.

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
My husband woke up this morning & wanted biscuits and gravy. I didn't have sausage or bacon so I used this recipe. I scaled it down to 2 servings and it turned out great. It's perfect as is or for tweaking it in the future to go with a particular meal. Thanks for submitting it!

Taco Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
These were the most delicious tacos I have ever made. They got raves from my husband and son. I was in a hurry making these, and I accidentaly added 1/4 a cup of cumin! Well, it was too late so I just mixed it all in. The only other change I made was cutting the salt to about a teaspoon or so. Even with the mega-dose of cumin, they were outstanding. I will definately make them again.

Southern Living magazine's Beef Brisket in Beer

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2004
I wasn't blown away by this at all. The meat was very tender, but the sauce just wasn't that great. It didn't have as much flavor as I expected, kind of blah.

Easy Manicotti Florentine

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2004
I would like to say that some people DO like their manicotti "bland" as tealv puts it. Not everyone can handle super spicey food. Spice it to your own taste! I just used a very spicy jar sauce over it instead of tomato sauce.

Pecan Crescents

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2004
These are tasty. Just be sure to use very finely chopped pecans. I didn't chop mine up quite good enough and it made the cookies fall apart when I tried to roll them.
