Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2013
I was almost ready to throw away the entire marinade after tasting it. Thank God I didn't. The taste took a turn for the BEST when this was cooked. I was so surprised and have made it AGAIN within the week. This is a great recipe to use for company if you want something different. I served ours with rice and vegetables.

Peach Cobbler IV

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
This is a simple recipe that produces outstanding results. I left out the syrup in the peaches and used double the portion of peaches and it was wonderful. I'm not a big fan of canned peaches but they taste good in this recipe. In the summer I'll try it with fresh peaches for sure.

Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2012
We didn't like this at all. Way to dry and taste like a cross between cardboard, nothing and baking powder. Turned out like shortbread, nothing "cake" about it.

Dennie's Fresh Lobster Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2012
I was hesitant about the butter and mayo combination but the mayo really smoothed out the butter. Creamy. I thought it tasted plain at first so I added Old Bay seasoning, sweet onion and bacon!

Wienerschnitzel

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
Great recipe! I forgot to dust the meat with flour first and it still turned out wonderful. I loved the flavors. I substituted veal for pork cutlets. Served it with spaetzle in a creamy sage sauce and applesauce on the side.

Brilliant Sauteed Broccoli

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
I was reluctant to put brown sugar and parmesan cheese on broccoli but it was AMAZING. I really like this recipe and will use this again. It was a hit at dinner. I saw my boyfriend's eyes widen when he bit into the broccoli. Good sign. Thank you for posting this recipe.

Eggplant with Garlic Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
Great recipe! This turned out really good and I will make this again. The next time I wouldn't use garlic powder, I'd suggest real garlic. The power didn't melt in as much as I'd hoped for. Other than that, this was SPICY and wonderful.

Moo Goo Gai Pan

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
This was the only Chinese dish I have made at home that taste closest to "real" Chinese food. I didn't use any canned vegetables (shoots, canned mushrooms and water chestnuts) and it still turned out great. I also added cornstarch to the raw seasoned chicken. I had read that in other recipes. The sauce was great.

Sweet Green Bean Bundles

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2012
These are really good. Once I saw the sugar and butter I was sold. I will make these again. I used fresh string beans. I couldn't imagine canned. Turned out wonderful! The bacon and the green beans were sweet and savory.

Wally's Rib Rub

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
This is my FAVORITE rub now. I use this on everything (i.e. steak, chicken, flank or skirt steak, ribs, and pork). This taste great on all meats. A dinner guest told me while eating it how wonderful it was and wanted to know the recipe. Even if you can't marinate it for hours, it's still incredible. I use it on the meat and then add olive oil before grilling. Thank you for posting this.

Swedish Meatballs (Svenska Kottbullar)

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
Incredible recipe. Thank you for posting this. I only had chicken stock on hand and used that. Still turned out amazing. The meatballs were incredible. I used rice instead of noodles. My fiancé loved it too.

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
I love the recipe when I read it. If only I followed it. I cut back on the sugar and wished I didn't. The bread was moist and delicious. I am on Kauai and used apple bananas which aren't as sweet so the sugar would have helped. Overall the bread was moist and that's what I wanted originally. The sour cream attracted me to this recipe. I'd make it again.

Grilled Sweet Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
The recipe sounded really good but they turned out bland. I added a little brown sugar hoping the sweet would cook in with the butter and it was still bland. Would not make this again.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
I gave this 5 stars because this is my new favorite snack. I ran into a few problems but will make this again. I used kosher salt and it turned out WAY to salty. Next time I will season it differently. I had this once with garlic and crushed macadamia nuts on the kale. I will try that next time. I was surprised that a tablespoon of olive oil coated the entire bunch of kale. I used my hands to toss the kale. That helped. I also had to bake this a little longer than 15 minutes to make sure there were no wilted damp parts. KEEP CHECKING when baking this, sometimes the kales looks wet and it's dry. I can't wait to make this again.

Excellent! I didn't have the vanilla and they STILL tasted great! We loved the cake like texture. This recipe will be saved and made again.

Hot 'n' Spicy Spareribs

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
LOVED this! I didn't have time to let the meat marinate but used this as a dry rub on the ribs and grilled them wrapped in foil for 45 minutes. Took them out of the foil and let them sit on the grill for about 7 minutes after. I used chopped spare ribs (all I had). I can't wait to make this again and let them sit overnight. The rub was different and delicious. The brown sugar was a wonderful base.

Honey Garlic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
Five star rating on this one! My boyfriend said he was putting it on his list of favorite things I have made. Easy and delicious. My only suggestion would be to add more garlic for a stronger garlic flavor. I did because we LOVE garlic in our house.

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
We LOVED this dish. I was looking for an authentic recipe after having cabbage served this way at a German restaurant. The combination of the butter, vinegar and sugar make the dish great. I followed the recipe and the cooking time which seemed long but it really needed the hour to cook. I didn't have cloves but used a dash of cinnamon instead. I read that cinnamon or allspice can be used as a substitute for cloves.

Mushrooms with a Soy Sauce Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I don't see a lot of five star ratings. I was really surprised how good these were. The recipe is so simple but the taste is HUGE. The mushrooms act as a sponge for the butter and the soy sauce adds the perfect amount of salt. I LOVED this recipe and so did my boyfriend. Will make this over and over again. I used whole crimini mushrooms and they turned out perfect. Not too firm and not at all mushy.

Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
This was my FIRST time making mac and cheese from scratch. This recipe made it taste like I have been making this for years. I loved it. I did add a teeny tiny bit of sugar and truffled salt to the recipe and left out the "cheese food". I was considering using Campbell's cheese soup instead of the processed cheese but I was only making enough for 2 and didn't want to waste the can. I saved this recipe and will make it again.
