Hot Sweet Onion Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I agree with some reviewers - it's gets greasy but it's so good! Definitely not for dieters. I also sprinkle paprika on mine. We have served it with Fritos Scoops (even worse for you!) or tortilla chips.

Easy Crab Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I reduced hot sauce to 1/2 tsp., used 2 green onions, no horseradish, about 8 oz. of cocktail sauce instead of 12, which was plenty. Then I read the reviews! I agree with one reviewer, you don't get much crabmeat taste with this. It's mostly just cream cheese and cocktail sauce. I won't make it again.

Parmesan and Basil Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2004
Made this for lunch for three women friends, all asked for the recipe! I chopped the celery and put it in the salad instead of pureeing it; added a little crunch. It's a little different than your average salad, which is good.

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2005
My recipe is identical, except for mine uses 3/4 c. of margarine instead of oil. It is a very old recipe, probably from the 1940's. It has just the right amount of spice, and does get them crisp on the outside and chewy inside. My husband's absolute favorite for many years! I have used colored sugars when making them at Christmas.

Oven Baked Jambalaya

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
Made this for Christmas Eve to feed 4 kids under 10 and 14 hungry adults; revised recipe to feed 24. Had more than enough! Used a HUGE roasting pan. It was EXCELLENT. Made it a day ahead and added some chicken broth before warming it up, and cooked thawed shrimp at the last 10 minutes.

Chocolate Cherry Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I have made this cake for over 7 years now with almost exact ingredients (3 eggs instead of 2). It has been an all-star favorite at EVERY potluck or dinner I have taken it to. Everybody asks for the recipe! The cherries are to make the cake moist, not to totally flavor it...it's a subtle taste. You can also find the recipe in the original Cake Doctor cookbook.

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2004
I think that 325 degrees is a typo; it should bake at 350 for 40-45 min. as it states on every cake box. Recipe was ok. I added 1/2 t. cinnamon and confectioner's suger glaze. I think I'd just like to make a blueberry pie instead but I like blueberries!

Holiday Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2005
Tried this recipe as someone before did, with semi-sweet chocolate layer. I froze that layer for about 15 min., then tried to continue the receipe. The white chocolate started to get too cold and would not spread well, and then I couldn't stick the candy cane pieces on top! Had to soften it in the oven and re-press the candy in. I used 9 oz. of candy canes and thought it was too much. I think I'd try it again, without the 2nd layer. Maybe just use plain chocolate instead of white? I gave 4 stars because it does taste good, and it was my fault it didn't turn out as well, because I changed the recipe.

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2004
I have been using this exact recipe for years, actually was going to submit it! It is the BEST strawberry pie recipe ever; can't wait to use it when berries are ripe this year. Tip: I have 1 and 1/2ed this recipe for a 10" piled high pie. Also should add little sugar to whipped cream...
