Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
this is a very easy recipe that makes a great tasting quiche. It doesn't have onions which most quiches seem to be loaded with. It had a great flavor I made it exactly as written the first time except without the crust. I still make it without the crust but add whatever vegetables I have on hand on top. Once you make it you'll realize how this is a great basic recipe that can be easily added to if you desire, or left just as written. Thank you for the recipe

Mock Apple Pie IV

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2012
I've read recipes for Mock Apple Pie for years and finally decided I wanted to try it. If you don't tell anyone they will think it's apple pie, but when I make real apple pie there is texture. There are discernable apple pieces. This comes out more like thick applesauce. I do appreciate being able to try the recipe once.

Curried Butternut Squash and Pear Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
first, get a stick blender and just blend in the pan. I made this recipe twice now, once with pears, once without. I like it both ways. Has a really nice combination of flavors. I was afraid on the 2nd time because I used regular (salted butter) and chicken base (again salted) and still put in the tsp of salt. I was afraid it was going to be too salty, but it was fine. Thank you for sharing this great recipe.

Amy's Kidney Bean Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
I found that making it per recipe it comes out quite bland for my tastebuds. However, I rated it 4 stars because it's a great combo that can easily be tweaked to greatness. I added 6 TBS of vinegar and 6 pks of nutrisweet, plus LOTs of salt and pepper. ( I added it 2TBS of vinegar at a time and kept tasting it until it tasted the way I thought was good) The basic recipe does have a hint of the sweet and sour, but it's very faint. I think using the greek yogurt with it's tanginess would help. I suggest making it with 1/2 yogurt and otherwise per recipe, then just tweek it until it has the taste you like. Certainly a healthy dish. Thank you for sharing it.

Hearts and Gizzards (Giblets)

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2012
I'm the type who has for years thrown away the giblets ( or cooked them for my pets), as my mother did before me. I wanted to find a recipe for something that could be done with these giblets. This recipe makes a dish that even a person who doesn't like giblets can enjoy, but it still is giblets. My husband loved it, I found it okay. One person mentioned there was too much flour, but you don't use all the flour, you just drench the pieces in the flour and then fry them in the oil. I didn't just wipe my pan with the oil, I actually put a little oil in the pan as well as 2 spoonsful of turkey oil. Afterward, you add the water and pressure cook it. The water and flour combine and make an okay gravy. If you like giblets try this recipe, as for me I won't be making it again.

Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
just looked this up and made it in less than 5 min. Had fluff in the cupboard. It's was the big plastic size, but only had about 7 oz left (eyeball measuring), so I added the cream cheese and the confectionery sugar and use the wand blended to mix right in the fluff container. I'm leaving the extra in there to take with me. Didn't have any lemon, but it's perfect. I thought it would be okay, but it's really good. Thank you!

Moong Dal

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
I tried this recipe today, I didn't have that weird ingedient so I didn't add it, and truly I used split dry green peas not yellow. I also cooked the peas in the pressure cooker. The thing is I HATE split pea soup and I was trying to find a way to use up some dry split peas I had in my cupboard for a long time, so it's incredible that I liked this. I fried the cumin seeds and a whole dried chili pepper in the oil like the recipe says, but that part was rather wierd. I didn't know if I should crush up the pepper, so I didn't but it became pretty obvious I should have, so I chopped it up while it was cooking with a pair of scissors. I'm not sure why they had to be cooked in oil and added at the end. Seems like they could just have been added in. I didn't add any extra water and it was rather thick. The leftover stuff is very thick and I'm thinking it would be a great base in a pita sandwich, just this and maybe some fresh spinach leaves. It's also very filling. Thank you for sharing this recipe and for everyone's reviews, they were very helpful. I did add some garam marsala after eating some without it. Did add a little more flavor. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because of the frying of the cumin and chili.

Chili Rubbed Pork Tenderloin With Apricot Ginger Glaze

Reviewed: May 22, 2013
Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Tastes best when made with homemade apricot jam. But still excellent with store bought. The only thing is the meat temperature. With my thermometer the meat is still raw at that temp. Cook longer

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2014
I made this as written except I didn't bother with dissolving the yeast first as this does not need tobe done with instant yeast. Everyone raved about this bread. It is sweet and also seems more dense almost like it has eggs in it. Giveit plenty of timeto rise. Excellent. Thank you for the recipe
