To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
Used half whole wheat & half unbleached white flours, honey instead of white sugar (except for streusel topping), & it still came out perfect & absolutely delectable! Perfect solution to a quart of blueberries that were too sour to eat by the handful!

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2006
Our favorite pancake recipe by far! I add vanilla & cinnamon. If you wrap each pancake individually in plastic wrap & then bag in a freezer ziplock, you can take them out & pop them in the toaster so easily. Perfect quick breakfast (taste great just dry too) for the kids!!

Excellent, but the prep time is highly underestimated, just a warning to anyone planning a dinner party!

Tater Crisp Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2005
Very yummy! I made the following additions: 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese to potato flakes. Sprinkle chicken (in pan) with salt, pepper, chicken seasoning. Broil on high for final 8-10 minutes. Everyone loved this, & I loved that it's not fried!

Extremely refreshing with a nicely tiny hint of tartness from the kiwi/OJ combo. We all loved it!

Creamy Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
Banana bread is one of the things I love most in the world of food. I was completely astonished at how WONDERFUL this recipe turned out. I added a couple handfuls of roughly chopped pecans to the actual batter, & I doubled the vanilla & added an extra banana. I loved how quickly my breads cooked, & I simply cannot get over the flavor!!!!!!!

Italian Bread Bowls

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2005
I only made four bowls cuz we wanted hearty servings of stew -- they turned out perfect, & I don't understand the reviewers who wrote about moulding the bowls around other bowls to form an actual hollow bowl. Bread bowls are just big ole round loaves of bread that you scoop out to make a bowl you can eat & dip with as you eat the stew or soup in it. Anyway, to each his own, but I wanted to say that bit in case anyone thinks they can't just accomplish a good ole bread bowl by plopping four round blobs of dough in the oven. Worked great for us, & my husband raved more over this meal than he has over most any other one! I made the Beef Stew VI from this site to eat in the bowls.

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2005
The BEST stew (made from scratch & not leftover pot roast) that I have ever had. We ate it over the whole weekend -- first in the Italian Bread Bowls from this site & then in regular bowls with the leftover bread from the insides of the bowls used for dipping. I used the suggestion of substituting a sweet potato in place of one regular potato -- as it cooked I smashed it into the sides of the pot to help thicken the stew. The only other change I made was using about 5 times the amount of cornstarch -- we like our stew very thick. The rosemary definitely makes the flavor of this stew, & I don't normally cook with rosemary. We all loved it in this meal, though, & I won't change a thing next time I make it!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2005
Soooo tasty -- reminds me of chicken marsala a bit (which I love). Fairly easy to whip together, & the result is right up there with an Olive Garden meal. We had one guest with us when I served it, & he couldn't stop raving about "the sauce, oh my goodness, that SAUCE."

Strawberry Cake II

My husband's favorite -- he asks for it every year on his birthday. You can also be lazy & just 9x13 it all & forget the three layers. Tastes exactly the same & way less work!

Cowpoke Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2003
My husband & I LOVE this recipe. It's thick & pasty & hearty ~ perfect comfort food. I use a lot more bacon & a lot more garlic. Everything else I do exactly as she says, & we honestly hold this recipe as one of our very favorites. I even chose it as the one to give out in a recipe tree I was involved in!

Cuban Black Beans I

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2002
Instead of onion I used onion flakes I used neither peppers, just crushed red pepper seasoning Instead of bay leaves, I used basil I added chili seasoning (not chili pepper) I did not use the hot green chile peppers (in fact, most of the reviewers said to take those out anyway) I used way more garlic I did not use the vinegar. LOL -- but despite all this, we LOVED this meal -- it was inexpensive & lasted our little family 4 days.

Did not have the sliced andouille sausage so I used the pepperoni I did have -- it turned out so good I can't see myself ever using anything else. LOVED this recipe.
