Leaving the land of organic, sustainable delicacies and moving to the land of the deepfried EVERYTHING has been a BIG change of pace. The nearest Whole Foods is 60 miles away and I make the trek regularly!

My favorite family cooking traditions
My father was an iron worker before he retired and so, as he was frequently out of work in the 80's when I was growing up, he did a lot of the cooking. His ingredients were occasionally non-traditional, but his cooking would make you smile.
My cooking triumphs
I make a KILLER sweet potato salad. And a rack of lamb that will knock your socks off.
My cooking tragedies
I was trying to impress my future sister and brother-in-law and I made what I thought was going to be an amazing pasta dish with scallops, shrimp, pears, gorgonzola cheese - it should have been fabulous - in my head, it tasted great. On the plates however, not so much. They were so sweet about it. We all ate a little bit of the entree and a lot of the dessert that night.
