Absolute Stress

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
This was pretty good. It was very strong, so I had to add some extra cranberry and orange juice. The taste wasn't amazing, but it was decent, and I can see myself making this again, if only to use up extra OJ and cranberry juice.

Rhubarb Crunch

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
The taste was great--but I thought that there was way too much topping in comparison to the actual fruit. I will make this again--but I'll probably halve the amount of crisp.

French Onion Soup VIII

Reviewed: May 21, 2007
Delicious! I made a few modifications. Substituted thyme for the bay leaves (didn't have any), mozzarella for the Swiss (also didn't have any), and used red wine for a more full-bodied flavour. With some salt and pepper the flavour was great. I'll definitely make this again.

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
This was pretty good! I added some red wine for more flavour; in the end it definitely needed a little more flavour, but nothing salt and pepper couldn't fix. I'll definitely make this again.

Creme Anglaise II

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
Excellent--a nice, basic creme anglaise dish that tastes exactly as it's supposed to. I used a tablespoon of real vanilla extract and that worked just fine.

Spicy Thai Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2007
This recipe was phenomenal. Very adaptable--I didn't have any lemon grass, and I substituted mushrooms and potatoes in place of the broccoli and carrots. It basically tastes like red Thai curry, just a little more soup-like--it's delicious. Can't wait to make this again.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
This is absolutely delicious. My boyfriend was afraid of the term "Vietnamese Coffee" (he's not the most adventurous when it comes to other cuisines) but the taste won him over. So good.

Satay Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
This was pretty good. Definitely not as thick as I was expecting, and I had to add some garlic and a couple dashes of curry powder to really liven up the flavour--but a good base to start with.

Risotto with Tomato, Corn and Basil

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
I thought this recipe was really delicious. I didn't have any basil, but I used sundried tomato and basil flavoured mozzarella instead of the parmesan and a good sprinkling of Italian seasoning, so that seemed to work instead. The only complaint I have is the use of milk--risotto always gets creamy without milk, and I didn't find the milk made that much of a difference. It just made the dish heavier than it needed to be. I'll make this again for sure--but with chicken stock instead of milk.

Caramel Macchiato Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
This was absolutely delicious! I wouldn't change a thing. I only had an 8" springform pan and the recipe still turned out perfectly. I will definitely make this one again!

Asian Tuna Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
This wasn't all that flavourful; the "Asian" flavour, as another review mentioned, wasn't very strong. This recipe was really missing something. It also needed 2 eggs instead of one. It was pretty good, but if I make it again I will have to make some adjustments!

Beer Cheese Soup II

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2007
This was delicious! I used flour instead of corn starch so it would be better when it's reheated, though. I also didnt have any Worcestershire sauce on hand, and it was still delicious! This will definitely be my standby beer and cheese soup recipe from now on. Next time I wanna make it with white cheddar!

Won Tons

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2006
Pretty time consuming to make, but the end result was delicious. I would never have thought to use cream cheese as part of a stuffing for wontons, but the creaminess was great. My only complaint is that it could have used less onion.. the onion flavour was a bit too strong.

Tempura Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2006
This didn't taste exactly like traditional tempura sauce, and despite its description was still a bit too watery...but it was still very tasty! I would definitely make it again, but with less water.

Lemon-Pepper Salmon

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
With the measurements given, this recipe did not turn out well at all. It needs more like 3/4 cup or even a cup of water for the sauce! I have never charred food before, and I left the stovetop for about 2 minutes to change a load of laundry, came back upstairs and the tomatoes were a burnt mess in the bottom of the pan. Keep in mind that when I left the stove it had only been cooking for about 5 minutes. The salmon itself was not incredibly flavourful, but I think with more water this recipe would have turned out very well. Just needed that one adjustment.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
This recipe was perfect, except for one thing--I will use less water next time, maybe even 1/4 cup. Instead of melting into a syrup it left a lot of water in the bottom of the dish when I was done baking it. But it's still very very delicious!

This is delicious! My mom loved it too. The lemon pepper added a really delicate lightness to this.

This is a fabulous recipe. I've made it three times so far. Easily the best frozen yogurt recipe I've ever used.

Cheese Biscuits I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2004
I omitted the Parmesan, and added a little bit more milk so it would be slightly less stiff, and therefore easier to get in the muffin tin. I added some garlic salt, parsley and italian seasoning right into the batter. And I added italian seasoning to the melted butter in addition to the parsley and garlic powder. Wonderful.
