Bottom Round Roast with Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Thanks so much for this exceptional and easy recipe!! The only thing I did differently was to brown the roast on all sides in a little oil before removing it and sweating the onions and some minced garlic. I then put the roast back into my enamelled cast iron dutch oven, covered it, and stuck it in a 400-degree oven till it was done (about three hours). Moist, flavorful, and tender and delicious served with roasted potato and sweet potato wedges and steamed veggies.....everyone loved it!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
This sauce was a big hit in our house! A simple red sauce, but packed with flavor and very easy to throw together. I made some changes, but only out of necessity (didn't have something on hand) or habit (we use ground venison/beef mixture for just about everything). The only trick I always use for meatballs is to put them under the broiler for about 8 - 10 minutes (turn them halfway through) then add them to the sauce as it simmers on the stovetop. The meatballs get a little browned and make the sauce taste even better. (Thanks Mom for the tip!). Thanks to Jeremy for posting this terrific recipe~ !

Not Your Mother's Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Fabulous...followed one reviewer's advice to soak some raisins in the cream sherry for 20 minutes before adding to the mix. A terrific idea, because you pick up the richness of the sherry (I used Vanilla Cream Sherry from NY State) in every bite. My husband and son thought this was a terrific pumpkin bread. Thank you for sharing the recipe!

Frosted Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
Oh my Lord in heaven! These cookies are fabulous for a number of reasons: there are no eggs or oil in the recipe, they are drop cookies that come together in a snap, the recipe makes a ton and doubles easily, they are delicious even without the frosting. My husband wants me to keep these around all fall and winter long. I didn't really change a thing, except for soaking the raisins in some hot hot hot water for about 10 minutes then squeezing out the liquid before mixing them into the dough. I did run short on raisins so I threw in some dried cranberries along with the raisins I did have. Really added a nice tang and different type of sweetness - but I'm certain they would be just as wonderful without the change! Thanks for a keeper!

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
My family loves this recipe - and I didn't change any ingredients. Just multipled, since there are four of us (and we always want leftovers!) The kids have begged me to never use canned sloppy joe sauce ever again!! Thanks for the recipe!

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
My family was really pleased with this quick and easy recipe. I floured the chops first as well with a mixture of flour, seasoned salt, garlic & onion powder, and black pepper; I also heated the sauce in the pan I browned the chops in before I poured it over. That way I got all the browned bits from the pan - very good! Will make again!
