About this Cook
As a kid I learned to cook with the Joy of Cooking circa 80's. I started at age 9 years and my love for cooking only gains in passion! I was a foodie before the term was coined. I miss the food network but still watch all the cooking shows I can. I have 3 kids, married to a Dutchman and living in the Netherlands.
My favorite things to cook
Roast and BBQ's because people always love it! I also love to make sauces, that is my speciality. Comfort food's, slow cooking...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sunday dinners
My cooking triumphs
my sauces, salad dressings I have a knack for it!
My cooking tragedies
oh my first was when at age 11 I made chocolate Mousse and I did not know about tempering the eggs, ended up with scrambled eggs and chocolate mess. There are more but hey that is what makes it fun to create!

Slow Cooker Lasagna
Very good, wonderful base recipe for the slow cooker. Made it twice, once the original recipe and found it a bit bland. So I made it again for a dinner party. Assembled it the night before, I have a large slow cooker and this recipe doubled well. cooked on low for about 3 hours and hight for 2 more when I started out cold out of the fridge. I have to say it really depends on you slow cooker size and model. I used ricotta mixed with egg instead of cottage cheese and added a good amount of Italian seasoning to kick it up a bit on flavour. I did not cook the noodles and every thing was perfect.

Fresh Pear Cake
Oh this was really delicious! I had a load of pears ripening quickly from apple and pear picking this month, what to do I thought! Well I made this cake, I was very simple, and delicious. I have to say I did not use cloves, but a spekulaas spice (Dutch spice mix) and cinnamon. It was sweet and I did not use any frosting or icing etc. Sweet enough with out it really. In fact I might cut the sugar a bit next time but over all it was super!
