Baked Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
Awesome. My favorite cranberry sauce, ever. If you like cranberries, there's really no way you won't like this. I make it at least twice a year. No more canned cranberry sauce around here.

Easy Rum Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2006
My favorite cake. Easy to make, and works great with other flavors of cake and pudding mix. My favorites are fudge cake / chocolate pudding, and cinnamon swirl cake / vanilla pudding. People ask me to make the cinnamon version all the time.

Hot Bacon Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2004
Good basic hot bacon dressing, but for my tastes it needs a little tweaking. I like really sweet stuff, but this is a little too sweet even for me. I'll cut down the sugar by 1/3 to 1/2 next time. I made it with packaged real bacon pieces and white wine vinegar. Great on a fresh spinach salad with a little red onion and fresh ground pepper.

Chili I

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2004
Best chili I've ever tasted. I've made this chili probably 10 times now. I think it's best with Guinness or Guinness Extra Stout. And it's *definitely* better the second day after it's been in the refrigerator overnight. Excellent beyond description with some shredded extra sharp cheddar and a big spoonful of sour cream on top, and tortilla chips on the side. Also excellent with ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef, and cubed chicken breast instead of sirloin.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2003
This stuff is awesome. I didn't like raw broccoli before now, but now this is my favorite vegetable dish. I made it with red seedless grapes, cut in half, instead of raisins (in the amount of 2X the raisins that the recipe calls for). I also used prepared bacon crumbles, the kind that come in a plastic pouch, intended as a salad topping; and low-fat mayonnaise. Be sure to use white wine vinegar--I think it makes a big difference. I think you could add just about any fruit, or maybe some white chicken chunks for a complete meal. I'm going to try it with chicken and diced apple next time. Make this; I think you'll like it!

Seven Layer Dip I

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2002
Everyone loved this, but we all agreed it needed to be WAY more spicy. I substituted cream cheese for half of the sour cream, used a packet of taco seasoning in the beef, and another packet in the sour cream / cream cheese mixture. A half cup or so of canned sliced jalapenos as layer #8 makes this a lot better. If you like guacamole, use about twice as much, because the recommended amount isn't enough to even spread out to make a whole layer. You wouldn't notice if you left it out. I'll make this one again; it's very good.

Easy Dump Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2002
Made it with devil's food cake mix, and 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup peanut butter chips. Very good, very moist. Baked in a 9x13 pan; it turned out just fine. Next time I'll switch to 1 cup of peanut butter chips and no chocolate chips... couldn't taste the peanut butter with all that chocolate. :)
