Rhubarb Custard Pie III

Like another reviewer said, this custard tastes like my Mom used to make many years ago. I did not use a pie crust as I wanted a healthy version of rhubarb custard. I've made this twice and put the custard in a 6 x 9 pan and baked as indicated in the recipe. I bake it until the custard is golden brown and set in the middle. It takes quite some time to bake so be patient and wait till it is golden brown and set. TY for a great recipe!

Country Apple Dumplings

I'm not sure where this recipe goes wrong, but the taste reminded me of nothing that is "country." I was hesitant to make these with so many "processed" ingredients and an overdose of sugar. The end result was just bad. I'll stick to my tried and true old fashioned dumplings with brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and butter filling. Brush the pastry with milk, sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon sugar, and bake.

Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

First off, forget the nasty PAM spray and use PARCHMENT PAPER. You get a perfectly browned French fry. I cut my fries, rinsed them, pat dry. Place in a bowl. Add about three tablespoons of olive oil; Toss well and spread out potatoes on your parchment lined cookie tray. I sprinkled them with sea salt, pepper, paprika, and a dash of cayenne! Bake at 425 for 15 min, then stir, bake an additional 10-15 and enjoy! (keep an eye on them the last 10 minutes). I used one VERY large sweet potato for the two of us!

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Great recipe with the substitution of coconut milk for 1/2 of the cream. Use cornstarch instead of flour, as so many others suggested. To those who say it turned out like soup, you overcooked the filling. Cook only until it breaks bubbles for about 1 minute. To the lady who asked what 1/2 and 1/2 is, it is a common coffee cream and is anywhere from 12-18% fat content.

Cranberry Nut Granola Bars

So simple. Mix and match nuts/fruit for your favorites (don't be afraid to experiment). I added 1/2 tsp. cinnamon to dry ingredients; MIX DRY INGREDIENTS WELL BEFORE ADDING CONDENSED MILK. I opened the condensed milk can and added 1 tablespoon of unpasteurized honey and 1 tsp. vanilla right into to the can; stir well. Pour condensed milk over dry ingredients and mix for several minutes to ensure dry ingredients are well coated. LINE PAN WITH PARCHMENT PAPER for even browning and easy cleanup! The best and easiest granola bar ever!

Best Baked French Fries

Made these omitting the nasty chemicals in cooking spray and used parchment paper. The fries come out golden brown. We like our fries spicy so I used a pinch of cayenne pepper and paprika. Yummy! Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

This is my first time making BBQ sauce and I am glad I did. Made this recipe exactly as written, except I added 1/2 tsp dried mustard, only 1/3 cup mollasses, and 3 teaspoons of liquid smoke because my husband and I aren't big on strong smokey taste. This is a nice taste of tomato/sweet/spicy/smoky/tangy goodness. I will make this again, but next time I will add only 2 tsp. liquid smoke as I think this would be good for our taste. VERY YUMMY...thx for posting!

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

I usually cook all my meats in the slow cooker on high for 5-6 hours. I tried to cook the corned beef on low as suggested by many and it came out tough and stringy as another reviewer stated. Carrots were undercooked. I had company and this was embarrasing to say the least. Not making this again but glad some had success in this recipe.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Nice texture to this cookie. I roll mine in a small ball and then SLIGHTLY flatten the dough, dip it in sugar, and place on parchment paper. Cookie is approx. 1" round and baked perfectly in 9 1/2 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE OR IT WILL BE ROCK HARD! Found the 1/4 cup molasses left a somewhat strong aftertaste so I would cut back slightly next time. Otherwise, yummy blend of spices.

Cinnamon Apple Syrup

Yummy, except I'd cut the cinnamon to 1 tsp. (too overpowering). As another reviewer said, this does not really turn syrupy. I thought this recipe to be more like apple sauce depending on how much may mash the apples as they cook.

Caesar Salad II

This recipe is too oily and seems to be lacking creaminess. It did not thicken at all and it tasted like something was missing. I should have read the reviews and tried mayonaise instead of oil, but I was trying to avoid a processed type dressing.

German Apple Cake

This cake is AMAZING!! I used 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/2 cup oil for a healhier version. It was so moist and delicious it did not need icing. When visiting my family, they begged to keep the leftovers! I made my own the next day and it kept well in the fridge for a week.

Traditional Lemon Meringue Pie

I made this pie and it probably would have been amazing; however, the pot I used reacted with the lemon juice and caused the filling to have a metallic taste. (Common reaction according to research) I had to throw the whole pie out! I would recommend a glass pot (Pyrex) to make this pie. I used stainless (do not use copper either) and it was awful.
