Hearty Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
Great lasagna. Used my own sauce though since I had all day to cook. I actually prefer vegetable over meat lasagna after making this today.

Quiche Lorraine II

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2013
It WORKED!!!! My wife says that my first quiche was better than any quiche she's ever had. Don't mind saying I was worried since I can't even remember ever eating quiche before, let alone cooking it. I minced up some pancetta instead of ham and substituted a half cup of heavy cream for the second cup of milk. I worried for nothing... the texture and flavor were lovely.

Chef John's Perfect Prime Rib

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
Used a 7 lb. roast and directions worked perfectly. I had my kids over for Christmas dinner tonight and we couldn't be happier. I made Chef John's twice baked potatoes as well as his au jus recipes so the whole meal was fantastic.

This sauce really is amazing. I did add a few cloves of saute garlic and a Parmesan cheese. The delicious dinner is going straight to next day lunch simply because I just can't wait any longer!!

What is not to love??? I used beef stock for liquids, butter, 2 TSP flour to thicken, and worcestershire sauce to taste. Unbelievably satisfying and delicious!

Chef John's Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
Had a hankerin' for some cacciatore tonight. I quartered a large chicken; splashed in a little white cooking wine early in the process and substituted chicken broth for water. This has that classic cacciatore flavor I was craving; delicious over angel hair with parm cheese.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2012
Is there anything better than breaded pork chops in gravy? Well this was really delicious; I only doubled the amount of mushroom soup for extra gravy.

Delectable Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
I'm always a little nervous about taking someone's awesome recipe and grilling it to death. This marinade survived my bbq regardless, and we all sat outside for a delectable chicken dinner.

Chicken Thigh and Dumpling Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2012
Another wonderful stew. Except for baking the chicken I stuck to the script (although I always end up baking the whole dutch oven whenever there are dumplings to finish). Its just so amazingly addictive; this hearty stew will probably not even make it to the fridge for leftovers ; )

Homemade Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2012
Oh yes!! Oh very much yes!! When I make this again I hope to have at least 3 times as many roma tomatoes from the garden (I had them ripening after picking for a couple days but still had to add two large beefsteaks.) I used half red wine / half water and thickened with both flour and parmesan cheese. This is among my very favorite pasta sauces!

Baked Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
I doubled the whole recipe because I knew they were going to get devoured. My batch came out so good. I dashed in a little cayenne pepper otherwise stuck to the script. Foolproof and highly recommended.

You had me at mustard!! Used half of a 4lb chuck roast (saving the other half for a future pot roast). Was so hungry by the time it was done and it was sooooo good! This is my favorite Stroganoff so far.

5 mega-stars! Followed the original recipe and its by far the best roast I've ever made. I'd never go back to a crock pot and/or broth. Satisfying and delicious.

Ham and Bean Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
So good! I had a few recipes in mind but since about a hundred degrees below zero outside tonight I decided to pull my frozen Christmas dinner ham bone out of the freezer. I used Cantellini but otherwise stuck to original. Soup heaven!!
