Oven Fried Chicken II

Maybe it's just a matter of taste since other people liked this recipe, but no one in our family liked it at all. I cooked it according to directions except that I used chicken drumsticks and I used butter instead of oil. It took longer to cook than 60 minutes, maybe because of the drumsticks. We found it to be too greasy, and the flavor was very blah. I didn't even bother saving the leftovers since no one wanted any more.

Blueberry Buckle

This was very good. I made it exactly as directed and am rating it 4 stars only because the baking time is off. I took it out of the oven after 30 minutes and didn't discover until it was cooled and cut that the center wasn't quite done enough, even though a toothpick inserted in the center came out clean. I will make it again but will try baking it for 40 minutes next time. As a side note, the batter was very thick, more like a dough so you can't really "pour" it into the pan.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

The first couple of bites tasted delicious, but after that it was just too rich for our tastes and I ended up throwing most of it out. It's just a matter of taste I guess and if you don't mind super rich deserts than this one is for you.

Creamy Rice Pudding

I made this exactly as written except for adding a little cinnamon at the end. It tasted great but came out much to thick for our taste...almost a solid mass after cooling. If I make it again I will try using less rice and a little more milk.

Bread Machine Garlic Bread

This made a pretty decent basic white bread, but for a garlic bread it didn't pass the test. We couldn't taste hardly any garlic in it, even though I added extra garlic.

Omelet in a Mug

It was very easy to do but we were not impressed with the results. It was very dry and overcooked. I cooked for one minute, stirred and then cooked for 1 minute more. It was so dry I gave it to the dog.I might try it one more time and reduce the cooking time.

Slow Cooker Tapioca Pudding

We loved this recipe. What an easy way to make tapioca pudding! The only thing that I changed was to add some vanilla at the end. It didn't require a lot of stirring until the last hour when it began to thicken. Then I stirred it about every 15 - 20 minutes. My slow cooker doesn't have a medium speed so I cooked it on high for 3 hours. It was the perfect consistency and there was no sticking and no browning on the bottom of the pan. The only thing that I would do differently the next time is to use a little less sugar. It was just a tad bit too sweet for me.

Kielbasa and Cabbage

We loved this recipe. As far as the ingredients go I followed the recipe exactly except that I only used two teaspoons of caraway. For the preparation and cooking I sauteed the onion and garlic in the bacon grease before adding the rest of the ingredients. I also precooked the sausage in a separate pan while the cabbage mixture was cooking, and then added it to the cabbage mixture and cooked it 15 minutes more. The only thing that I would do differently the next time is to reduce the sugar to 1 tablespoon. It tasted just a bit too sweet for us.

Raspberry Pie I

I made this pie as written except that I only used two tablespoons of water and the pie was still too runny. I let it set for 8 hours before cutting which should have been more than enough. The filling also tasted a bit too tart for my taste although that may have been the fault of the raspberries (I used fresh). I may try making it again using no water at all.

Highway Cafe Chess Pie

Maybe it's just a matter of taste but I found this pie much too sweet. After the first couple of bites I just couldn't eat any more. I followed the directions exactly except for omitting the walnuts.

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

I have used many recipes from allrecipes.com over the years but have rated only a few...and never this quickly. I made these pork chops tonight and they were amazing! My husband could not stop raving about them. He is normally not a big fan of pork chops, but he loved these, saying they are the best he has ever had. They were very tasty and very moist. I followed the recipe and directions almost exactly except that I made the sauce earlier in the day and used some of it to marinate the chops for a few hours before grilling. Great recipe!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

I guess it's mostly a matter of taste on this one. I made it as written except doubled the sauce and marinated the chicken for a couple of hours before grilling. My son loved it but my husband and I thought that the sauce had too strong a flavor for us when used for dipping. I will probably try making it again but marinade it for longer to try to infuse more flavor into the meat without having to use extra sauce for dipping. The chicken was very tender and juicy.

Broiled Lemon and Garlic Tiger Prawns

I have been using this recipe for quite awhile now and everyone loves it. I often use regular shrimp instead of prawns with equally good results. Very quick and easy to make and very delicious.

Guacamole

I love good guacamole but have yet to find a recipe that is as good as that in a couple of my favorite restaurants. When I saw all the positive reviews for this recipe I decided to try it. My husband and I found it just "okay" for us. It may be just a matter of preference but for us the cilantro was too overpowering. It was all we could taste. I made the recipe exactly as stated.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

I have tried this recipe twice now and am still perfecting it to try to get it to a 5 star rating. I followed the directions almost exactly the first time and it was a bit too tart for our taste so the second time I only zested one lemon. That was much better but I am still playing with the right amount of lemon juice. Juicing two medium lemons with an automatic juicer resulted in almost a whole cup of lemon juice which was a bit too much even though the pie was not runny. I have found that whisking the 1/4 cup hot sugar mixture into the egg yolks before adding them to the remaining mixture really helps the pie to set up well. The first time I didn't do this and the pie had some juice under the crust. My only other problem is with the meringue. It looks beautiful when the pie is finished and tastes great, but after being in the refrigerator for several hours the meringue becomes sticky and makes the pie difficult to slice. All in all I think that this is a very good recipe. There is never going to be a lemon meringue pie that will be worth five stars to everyone since many people like different degrees of tartness. You just need to take a good recipe and tweak it until you get just the right degree of tartness for you. This is one of the best lemon pies recipies that I have tried.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

I don't usually review a new recipe I try but this one is so good it's hard to beleive it's so easy to make! I used a rub on the meat and browned it before putting in the crock pot but otherwise cooked it as directed. Everyone loved it....even my finicky son!

Creamy Blueberry Pie

We thought that this pie had a very good flavor except it was a little too sweet. For some reason the pie also did not set well. I let it cool completely before cutting it but it still fell apart when sliced. Directions were followed exactly.

Yellow Angel Food Cake

Very good flavor. However I found that I had to reduce the cooking time. After 45 minutes I took it out of the over. I also found it difficult to remove from the pan neatly.
