About this Cook
My mom had an unbelievable amount of hand written recipes, I loved that she took the time to do this and pass on her love of cooking to me. I don't like sweets that much but love to cook savory dishes while sipping a good wine, it is my way to relax.
My favorite things to cook
Peruvian recipes are my favorite!! arroz con pollo, aguadito, lomo saltado, pescado a lo macho, causa, y arroz chaufa. I also love Italian dishes and I am famous for my tacos and burritos as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We celebrate thanksgiving at my house, everyone brings a dish and my daughter Alexandra makes the yummiest desserts ever, it is family and dearest friends cooking, laughing, and just being together. I started the tradition of celebrating xmas on January 6th (three kings day) that way everyone's agenda is clear and more relaxed.
My cooking triumphs
Bacon wrapped meatloaf, lasagna, home made tomato gravy with ribs, but my piece "de resistance" has to be roasted leg of lamb!
My cooking tragedies
home made bread!!!! we could have used it as a door stop!!

Picante Marinated Chicken
I just had it for dinner, good but a little too salty for my taste. Keep this in mind when preparing and enjoy.

Slow Cooker Latin Chicken
I wished I had used regular potatoes instead of the sweet ones. We didn'tlike the combination at all. Only the chicken tasted great.

Peruvian Arroz con Pollo
Hi Katie: I am from Peru and an avid cook from their many recipes, arroz con pollo is one of my daughter Alex's favorites so I only make it when she is around, since it is a lot of food for dad and I. Loved the way the rice came out and the chicken was moist and juicy. My only reccomendation is to use a frying pan and a big pot instead of two frying pans. The volume increases and it is much more comfortable cooking it all at the end on a big pot. Did not change a thing otherwise, It was "riquisimo para chuparse los dedos" taste for salt before putting lid on. ENJOY
