Creamy Dill Cucumbers

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
This was ok. I think the reason it seems bland, like the other reviewer mentioned, is that traditionally (here in the south), we tend to expect a vinegar type flavor from our cucumber salad, and this didn't have that zing to it.

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
Boy howdy let me tell you. I marinated chicken tenders in this marinade tonight. I also marinated the other half of the tenders in a different recipe from this site. THE FLAVOR OF THIS ONE IS AMAZING!!! The other was ok, and probably good by itself, but next to this one, NO CONTEST!!! I will make this again soon. It had great flavor and it was moist. ENJOY!!!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
Hi, this was really good. Made pretty much as follows but used frozen breasts, seasoned them, and cooked them on low all day. I think next time I will use a can of cream of mushroom to replace one of the cream of chickens. Oh, I also used a can of chicken broth to replace some of the water.

Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
My husband of twelve years has always made it a point to let me know that he HATES cabbage, so I would never cook it. Well, I like it, so I finally decided to make it and he could eat it or not. Not only did he eat what I put on his plate HE WENT BACK FOR SECONDS. He's now decided that he DOES like cabbage. Just a note, I too was a little afraid of the vinegar so I just splashed it with half, tasted it, added the rest, and it DID make a difference in the flavor. It was really good. Thanks for this recipe.

THE BEST!!!!!!!! Will never make it any other way. Although I did add okra, and as others suggested only used two quarts of broth.

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
I absolutely LOVED this cornbread. One thing though, you have to love butter. Some people found it "greasy", I just found it "buttery" and moist. It really was the best cornbread I've made and will make many times again. I only added half the can of peppers as the recipe says, but next time I'll add the whole can.

Shallot Bacon Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
I found this recipe a week or so ago and was waiting for someone to try it. I finally decided to go for it, and I'm glad I did. This sauce was GREAT! Just one suggestion, it says to serve immediately, please do, I let mine sit while waiting on the rest of the meal and it started to seperate. Although, the flavor was still wonderful. I'll be making this again soon, and often. UPDATE: I made this again the next night and remembered something I forgot to mention, I added a (large) clove of chopped garlic to the sauce during the saute process. I just can't imagine too many things without garlic.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Although I've used several recipes off this site, this is only the second time I've taken the time to review. This really was the best pot roast I've ever made. I took the suggestion of some and used (McCormick) Pot Roast seasoning instead of onion soup mix, and I used one can of cream of mushroom and one cream of celery. Cooked it for a total of 8 hours, after two hours added sliced onions and celery, and a couple hours later added carrots and potatoes. The gravy was WONDERFUL! Being one that always does something different with most recipes, this will be one of the few that I continue to make as is.

Molasses Sugar Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
I have made several recipes off this site, but never take time to rate them. This recipe turned out so awesome I just had to. I've been searching for a recipe as close to my husbands grandmothers as possible. He loved this one. I'll never make any other molasses cookie recipe again.

Chicken and Asparagus Fettuccine

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2003
I thought this was a good recipe, but I noticed that many reviews had a problem with the consistency of the sauce. To be honest I didn't follow this sauce recipe exactly, I add a small amount of flour to the melted butter, then add whipping cream, and a couple tablespoons of cream cheese, after that is combined I add the parmesan cheese and sometimes a pinch of nutmeg. It's great! Enjoy

Southern Living Magazine's Chicken-Fried Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2002
This recipe is absolutely AWESOME!!! I have tried several recipes from this site, however, have NEVER taken the time to review them, although I enjoyed most of them. I had to take time to say, I'm from Texas, where he have chicken fried steak at almost every restaurant. This TRULY is better than ANY restaurants I've ever had. It's was just awesome. Like others, I didn't use as much oil, or frying time.
