Baba Ghanoush

Reviewed: May 8, 2012
I loved it as I made minor changes to suit my taste. Less lemon. A lot less lemon. (As others have noted) I learned that from making hummus too. I like a lot less lemon in both. You can add more if you need to. I doubled the garlic and added a tad more tahini because I love the stuff. The sesame seeds are important! You can also make your own tahini if you have extra sesame seeds.

Guacamole

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
I put everything (only 1/2 the lime juice) in my food processor and made a nice smooth Guacamole and then added in 1 more roma tomato and 1 more avocado and pulsed it so it would have some chunks. I was glad I had the extra avocado because the lime juice was still too overpowering for me even though I cut it in 1/2. But that's just me. I usually keep the lemon and lime juices to a minimum for most recipes.

Lamb Shawarma

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
My store was out of lamb (except huge leg of lamb) so I bought beef stew meat instead. I then put the meat on flatbread and added home made hummus. It was fabulous!

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling

I didn't like this at all. I should have used the beans for hummus or a hummus spread like mixture. Also 1 tablespoon mayonnaise wouldn't be enough to make this spreadable.

Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
I had left over cabbage from making a cabbage/shrimp salad and so this was perfect! I followed another reviewers advice and added in some curry powder and I agree that put it over the top!

Busy Day Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
I changed it up :) 2 cups rice (Of course! Need more rice) 2 cups water. 1 cup milk. (Yes, I have an extra cup of liquid which turned out perfect for me) Baked at 350 for 1.25 hours. I used thighs. Both soups I used cream of mushroom. I used a roaster pan with a lid and dumped everything into it and stirred it all up. I still used the 1 pack onion soup mix though. This recipe was very close to a recipe I remembered having but lost which is why I made the changes. delish!

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2011
This ended up tasting too bland for me but I am not sure why. It looks like it should have had a lot of flavor. I ended up throwing in a bunch more spices like thyme and a little worcestershire and even powdered garlic which was on top of the garlic cloves already in the recipe. Also, if you make this I recommend putting something chunky in the sauce for texture... like mushrooms or olives.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
I had to add more liquid to the dough as many others stated. (But Alton reminds us that that is why you should measure by weight...but we don't) I ended up doing a rough pretzel shape with all of them and then going back to the first one and refining them all once they had rested. They were easier to get the final shape on. I turned the oven to 420 instead of 450 and they were perfect at 8 minutes. Yummy!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
I am not sure why people voted this 5 stars. They were fine pancakes but nothing special and dare I say they lacked the 'yummy' factor and I don't mind pancake mix out of a box! They were no where near Elmer's pancakes. I am not sure what I would change about them but they were not 5 starts in my book, sorry.

I recommend Kraft Brown Sugar BBQ sauce. I have tried some pretty expensive, fancy brands and Kraft Brown sugar is simply the best in this recipe in my opinion.

Blue Cheese Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2006
I bought 2 tenderloin steaks and used 1/2 the marinade. I baked the steaks at 400 for 9 minutes and then broiled them for about 1 minute a side. I started the sauce after I took the steaks out to rest. It took about 5 minutes. (Basically it starts out creamy I just heated it up) This might be the closest thing to perfect I have ever tasted :) It does get scary to throw a marinade on a tenderloin steak! But it was the perfect amount of subtlety.

Twice-Cooked Coconut Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2005
Delicious! I am guilty of changing a few things though. I used store bought batter mix from the seafood department and used that in place of the 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup cornstarch & salt. I didn't have any problems getting the coconut to stick to it. I also used sweetened coconut because that is what I had. In my opinion it was perfect! The sauce was also perfect. The entire dish was VERY quick and easy.
