Well I figured that its time to start a blog.   I have been thinking about it for some time and here we go.    The holidays are fast approaching and I figured today is as good of a day as any to start baking some quick breads.   I can remember growing up my mom always had pumpkin bread and cranberry nut bread in the freezer.    So to honor her memory I am locking myself into the kitchen today to bake.   When I resurface later I should have 2 Loafs of Cranberry Orange Bread,  2 Loafs of Pumpkin Bread, and 2 Loafs of Banana Nut Bread.   I will take pictures later and let you know how they turned out.

My FIL (now gone) had a dear friend (after Granny died) who loved to bake breads. She always filled her freezer with loaves of similar breads, wrapped in saran, then foil. She gave each of his kids' a family gift of these deliciouns breads for Christmas. Hubby is one of 10, so that's a lot of baking! She did the same for all her kids and grands. I love to bake these breads, also, however, I don't get it done as often as I would like. for banana-nut bread, I like to use 1/2 each white and brown sugars. What do you use?

Love, love, love the feeling of having some "stuff" in the freezer. It is like knowing you have some $$ in the bank. And the actual baking part.... well that is the BEST! As much as I am NOT a fan of Winter, I love Fall and this is when I do start baking, too. Spring and Summer... not so much. Have fun!

About Me
No matter what I do in life everything seems to revolve around food (or at least thats what others say about me!). My first Job in High School was at a Chick-fil-A. Ever since I have been involved in the food industry. I spent 4 years working for a large wholesale food service distributor selling food to resturants. I then took a job for 3 years working at another food distributor serving the Largest Donut Chain in the Country. (By the way they sell more Coffee than Donuts. Currently I am serving as Controller for a Manufacturer that specializes in manufacturing food ingredients. I love to cook, and more importantly I love to bake. As you can see its safe to say that everything does revolve around food. I would not have it any other way.
My favorite things to cook
Anything Grilled. Favorite cut of meat is the NY Strip steak. Love slow cooking a Pork butt on the grill.
