Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
Used this for sime Easter Sugar Cookies and I really liked it. It was easy and it tasted pretty darned good. The kids really enjoyed it. I thinned out with a bit of extra milk and it worked like a charm.

HERB-OX® Bouillon Pork Chops with Burgundy Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
I was nervous about trying this one, but it turned out well. I rubbed the meat with a salt/pepper/garlic powder mixture and then coated them in the mustard. I skipped the boullion cubes and subbed in 2 TBSP of chicken broth. We really enjoyed it and I would definitely make it again.

Apricot Chicken I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
Who knew that these ingredients together could make a tasty dish? I couldn't find Russian dressing, so I used Thousand Island, which I beleive is the same thing. Also, I only used 3 very LARGE boneless, skinless breasts and a single envelope of the onion soup mix. It was a good dinner and I served the chicken over some egg noodles along with some broccoli. We will definitely be doing this one again.

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
These were terrific. Yes, they are on the sweet side, and you probably don't have to add the entire bag of butterscotch chips to the dough. I liked the balance of sweet and spicy, though. I only used 1/2 tsp of the cloves, but I think it would be fine with the full 3/4 tsp. I'm glad I have these in the freezer. Yummy!

Caramel Snack Mix

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
I really enjoyed this. One thing I did notice was that the cereal started to get very dark and some pieces started to burn. My oven doesn't usually run hot, so I kept a close eye on the pan. I stirred every 10 minutes once I noticed the cereal getting so dark. And then I ended up taking the pan out 20 minutes early. I kept stirring every 10 minutes once it was cooling. It was nice and crunchy and sweet. I just picked out the burnt pieces. I would definitely make it again.

Black Bean and Corn Salad II

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
I really LOVE this recipe. I usually skip the green onions, but that's because I never remember to buy them. The flavors are amazing in this salad and it gets rave reviews where ever it goes. Give it a try, you will not be sorry.

Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
I've never made a Red Velvet Cake before, this was my first. The directions are very precise, and I thought the results were pretty darn good. It was a little dry, but that could be because I made cupcakes and they might have been a little over baked. I skipped ahead in the directions and had already added 1 tsp of baking soda to the flour when I realized it should have been added to the vinegar. I ended up mixing 1/2 tsp of baking soda with the vinegar instead. I baked the cupcakes for 20 minutes, and next time I will check them earlier. Also, I didn't have any liquid food coloring, just the paste food coloring, so I just added that to the batter until the color looked good. Haven't frosted them yet, but the cakes alone are pretty good!

Lime Chicken Picante

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
This was good, but I think I might enjoy it better on the grill next time. I doubled the sauce as some other reviewers recommended. I cubed the chicken up and served it with corn and rice. Tasty sauce.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
These were good. I was a little nervous about trying them because of the sweet potatos, but I figured I would give it a shot. I cut the recipe in half and still ended up with 10 burritos, but I think my tortillas were smaller than the recipe called for. I enjoyed the flavors and served them with fresh salsa a low fat sour cream. While I thought that they were tasty, my husband has requested that next time, we add some chicken or steak strips for variety.

Chewy Chocolate Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
YUM!! I did make some changes to this recipe, based on previous reviews. The cookies were very good, though. I did change the flour to 2 1/4 cups and I used 1 cup each of brown and white sugar. I used about a cup each of milk chocolate and semi-sweet chips and I added chopped pecans, too. I baked them for about 9 minutes and they were great. I love a soft, yummy cookie, and these fit the bill.

Honey Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
Yummy! This was really delicious. As I was making the recipe, I found that I was running out of Worcestershire sauce, so I was unable to add that to the honey butter sauce. I still basted the shrimp with the honey butter, though. I also reserved a little bit to dip into indulgently during dinner. Very easy and really tasty results!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
Mmmmm-mmmmm good! This was pretty darn tasty. I used 1 soup can worth of milk, added a clove of crushed garlic and half of a bag of baby carrots, which a roughly chopped. I also added 2 tbsp of a spicy chicken rub that I made and had on hand. I sredded the chicken after about 4 hours. It was pretty close to being done at that point, so when I added it back, I turned the crockpot down to low and cooked it for another hour. I just baked the biscuits in the oven, since I thought my little guy would like the real biscuits better. I will definitely make this again. Great comfort food and wonderful during these cold months.

Slow Cooker Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
My husband has been hounding me for chicken cordon bleu for a while. However, it's a little tough to make with a toddler and a newborn, so I was happy to find this recipe. I used 4 large boneless breasts that I butterflied and stuffed each with a slice of ham and Swiss cheese. I used a box of Stove Top stuffing mix, but only added 2 tablespoons of butter. It was a hit and my DH said he would be happy to have this every couple of weeks. We will definitely be eating this again.

Smothered Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
I only had 3 pork chops thawed, but I did make all of the sauce. My husband thinks that there can never be enough gravy!! It was okay, but a little bland. We seasoned with salt and pepper to taste. The pork was pretty tender. I would make this again, but would add a little more seasoning for a bit of a kick.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2006
This was easy and tasty. I used 4 chicken leg quarters and added 2 tbsp of butter to the crockpot. The meat was really tender, falling off the bone. It made a tasty gravy for the mashed potatos. Very easy and perfect for the colder weather.
