About this Cook
I cook because I love to eat! Fortunately, my husband is wonderful about trying my "experiments." I love receiving new cookbooks for gifts and collecting them when we travel. My primary motivation is that I really tire of the same old thing week in and week out.
My favorite things to cook
Anything new and different, but I admit I have a weakness for desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking Christmas cookies is my favorite cooking ritual. I start right after Halloween (when I'm organized!) and don't stop until right before Christmas. My freezers are bursting at the seams by Christmas with homemade treats. I actually try to get all my shopping done really early just so I have more time to bake. Sad but true!
My cooking triumphs
Any time I try a new, complicated recipe and it turns out well I feel triumphant! The real litmus test is if my children like it because they are very picky.
My cooking tragedies
One Thanksgiving I was having my husband's entire family for dinner and when it came time to make gravy, I reached for the wrong canister and ended up thickening my meat juices with pancake mix instead of flour. We basically had pancake batter with our lovely roasted bird!

Sea Bass Cuban Style
This is amazing! Very flavorful. Even my husband, who is not a great seafood eater, liked it. It's made be want to try other Cuban dishes.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole
I get raves whenever I serve this. Creamy and satisfying. Great with ham. And easy to make. Had this at a dinner party with a green salad, bbq shrimp on skewers, and key lime pie for dessert. It was a smash.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins
My son loves muffins and chocolate so this was a real find! I substituted semisweet chips that I had on hand for the chocolate squares and they were fabulous. The batter made a dozen regular muffins and about a half dozen mini muffins that were the perfect snack size. Just add milk!
