About this Cook
Hi everyone! My name is Monique, I am a 27 yr old Stay-At-Home mom who unfortunatly is just now learning how to cook lol...hubby bought me a slow cooker and it has literally changed my life!!! No more stressing over if I'm doing something right, just throw a bunch of stuff in, set, and I have the rest of the day to take care of my kids and get things done! I'm here because I am running out of things to make in my slow cooker lol...I want to try new things so hubby doesnt get bored. I'm trying my first new recipe today. Chicken Fried Pork Chops in the slow cooker so I'm hoping it comes out right...Wish me luck lol
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is a whole chicken in the crock pot. I season it with salt, pepper and paprika and stuff apples and garlic inside. It comes out really moist and delicious. My husband LOVES it so that makes me feel really good lol
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't really have any cooking traditions which is why I'm 27 and just now learning how to cook lol
My cooking triumphs
My whole chicken in the crockpot is a real hit, also a beef stew that I sometimes make but it makes too much and hubby doesnt really like leftovers so most of it goes to our dog
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make risotto...it turned out HORRIBLE lol

Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage
I did not like this at all. I followed the recipe but with everyone else giving it such good reviews I must have done something wrong. It was very oily and did not have much flavor...probably will not make this again.

Cheesy Italian Tortellini
This was a HUGE hit with my husband. He said it was the best sauce he's ever had EVER. lol I did make a couple of minor changes based on some of the other reviews. I didnt add the diced tomatoes mostly because I'm not a fan of huge tomato chunks. I sauted 4 or 5 cloves of garlic and threw that in and I added maybe 2 tbsp of brown sugar. Other then that everything remained the same and it was delicious. This will definatly become a staple in our home.

Chicken-Fried Chops
My husband LOVED this!!! For me, I liked it but I think it could have had a little more flavor and there wasnt nearly enough gravy.I made a few changes, instead of cream of chicken I used cream of mushroom, and I added the drippings into the slow cooker to help flavor the gravy. I think next time I'll season it a little heavier, double the amount of mushroom soup I used and saute some onions and garlic and throw that in there. All in all a great recipe that I WILL be making again!
