Faux-meat dishes are interesting to me. I'm not opposed but it seems a little weird to make a non-meat dish look like meat. For some it could be a tribute if they feel meat something they've "given up" and miss. In the example I've linked to above the author is compromising with a meal that satisfies her vegan diet and her husband's "meat and potatoes" appetite.

The most interesting thing for me to note is that it's possible to steal methods from traditional cooking that are not entirely necessary in vegan cooking yet will surely enhance the flavors and presentation!

I have wondered the same thing. It seems that a unique diet would have distinctively unique recipes and/or presentations. I don't see the need to "copy" carnivore recipes.
