About this Cook
I have a love/hate relationship with cooking...most of the time, I really love it-the planning, the shopping, the final result (the eating!) but with 3 small children, sometimes I am just too tired to even think about it!
My favorite things to cook
Everything...I love breakfast, dinner entrees, salads, and cookies especially.
My favorite family cooking traditions
What a challenge! My husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and I am a bit of a foodie but now with my own family and a tight shopping budget, I just try to take simple recipes and execute them really well. I simply don't have the budget for really fancy items-especially when feeding picky preschoolers!
My cooking triumphs
I host Thanksgiving every year for my family and it turns out awesome-everything from scratch! (ok, except the biscuits!) I cooked for 20 people this year and it was awesome! Christmas eve and several dinner parties for family friends were great successes too! and Valentine's Day dinner to me tasted like I was sitting in a 4 star restaurant!
My cooking tragedies
One Thanksgiving, about 14 years ago, I put too much milk in the mashed potatoes and still get teased about it every year....

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake I
I used full size chocolate chips and this was AMAZING...thank you-my husband thinks it was better than his mom's!

Pork and Cabbage Soup
I had left over pork from a pig roast and used bag-preshredded cabbage plus a little basil....oh my gosh....it took me back to my Busha's kitchen table!! Couldn't find the beef bouillon and I use ready stock base anyway so I just used it a little more concentrated...A keeper for any one with a polish grandma!

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding
Delicious! I wanted to make a banana pudding recipe but having all chocolate lovers in the house, decided to try this recipe! all I can say is I will never waste money on box pudding again! I added the pudding to a pan lined with vanilla wafers and sliced banana and am waiting for it to cool before refrigerating but my daughter was liking the pan clean! (ok, and I had a spoon too! yummy!) I stuck to the recipe as written and it was perfecit, not too sweet and lots of chocolate yumminess. I plan to add some whipped topping when I serve it instead of the classic merangue. Can't Wait!
