Chocolate Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2002
YUM! YUM! YUMMY!!! I was tempted to just eat this out of the bowl! Tangy, sweet, and awe-inspiring. I used it to frost the "Deep Dark Chocolate Cake," and the combo was amazing! I did tweak it a bit though: Only 3 cups of powdered sugar (4 seemed like too much), and I ditched the cinnamon completely. It's a good recipe that can be adjusted to suit your personal taste.

Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

This is the quintessential chocolate cake!!! Fluffy with a rich chocolate flavor. I frosted it with the "Chocolate Cheese" frosting, and it turned out fabulous.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2002
Perfect. Flawless. Superb. The only change I made was to use 1/2 cup of melted butter instead of vegetable oil. This recipe is what I imagine when I think of brownies.

The Best Double Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2002
Really delicious. I used 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and 1 1/2 peanut butter chips, and they came out perfectly.

Mint Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2002
Great stuff! Reminds me of the Mint Meltaways from Fannie May. I didn't divide the chocolate into 2 layers though... it would have been impossible to spread after it cooled. Just used one thick chocolate layer and spread the mint layer on top.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2002
YUM! YUM! YUM! Delectable fudge! Made it with walnuts, and it turned out flawless! I'm not sure why some people's fudge melted; I didn't that problem.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2002
Very delicious and creamy. I sprinkled some extra sharp cheddar on top for a little extra zing, and it turned out nearly perfect. Next time, I'll use 1/2 tsp of salt instead of 1/4. Several people voiced that it needed a little more salt.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2002
The cake was very moist and beautiful and fluffy, and it vanished practically overnight! The first day, I didn't care for it; the godiva chocolate liqueur (substituted for kahlua) was way too overpowering. But the next day, the flavor set and the cake was DELECTABLE!!! Does not taste like a cake mix cake at all.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2002
Oh. My. God. These cookies are delicious! I did make a few changes though. I didn't have butter-flavored shortening, so I just used regular shortening and added 1/2 tsp of butter flavoring. Also, a soaked the raisins in hot water first to plump them up, substituted allspice for the cloves, and dumped in a package of instant vanilla pudding to make the cookies moister. The result? One fabulous cookie!

French Pastry Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2002
This crust was a breeze to make and tasted wonderful, with a great texture. Unfortunately, I used it to make a disgusting apple pie (Grandma Ople's), so the effect was sorta ruined for me.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2002
Sorry, but I hated this. The only substitution I made was Gala apples instead of Granny Smiths, because I think Grannies are too tart. Anyway, the whole thing was repulsive. I should have made a more traditional-style apple pie.

Creamy White Layers

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2002
Didn't use superfine sugar because I couldn't find it. Just substituted the regular granulated stuff, and it turned out great anyway. It's a creamy, dense sort of cake. Very tasty. I frosted it with Lemon Cream Cheese frosting, and everyone came back for seconds and thirds.

Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2002
Great frosting!! I did make a few adjustments though. Used 3 Tablespoons of lemon juice instead of two, and only used 4 cups of powdered sugar. The result was sweet, tangy, and delectable. Kind of reminded me of lemon meringue pie.

Never got to taste them, because they came out horribly burnt. 450 degrees is way too hot.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2002
A few criticisms... My family and I found the raspberry sauce to be far too tangy. Next time, I'm going to add an extra tablespoon of sugar to see if that helps. Another thing I noticed is the cheescake filling doesn't taste much like white chocolate (though it is yummy). Also, I thought that a graham cracker crust might have gone over better than the chocolate cookies. Overall, it was a good cheescake, but it would be better with a few tweaks.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2002
This frosting could be eaten by the spoonful. Thought it was a tiny bit too tangy, so I used 3 cups of powdered sugar instead of 2. I used it to top a carrot cake, and everyone wanted the recipe. I truly don't see how you can go wrong with this frosting.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Wow! This was my very first foray into baking carrot cake, and it was a hit. Everyone loved it! Left out the raisins, however, because I don't like raisins. I can't wait to make it again. Tastes even better the second day!

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2002
You absolutely must make this frosting! It is one of the most scrumptious chocolate frostings I've ever tasted in my life, and I've never been a big fan of buttercream frosting. I frosted a yellow cake with it, and everyone devoured it. Fudgy, rich, and delicious.

Grandma's Moist Cake

DELECTABLE! This cake was moist, fluffy, and delicious. I frosted it with chocolate fudge buttercream frosting, and everyone loved it (including me). It was completely demolished in less than two days! I am so happy I found this recipe. Definitely a keeper.
