Chess Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
I don't know which came first, but this is almost the same thing as a gooey butter cake, which I prefer over this. I used only 3 cups of sugar and thought it was waaaayyy too sweet...(Although my offspring appreciated the sugar overload, as did my guests). Btw, this cake tasted even better the next day.

Cool Whipped Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
After reading reviews I was kinda hesitant to use this recipe. I made said frosting as directed and after tasting it, realized what previous reviewers were referring to as "artificial" taste :P -- It was not a pleasing flavor. BUT! I added the entire 16 oz. tub of cool whip....VOILA! Perfect frosting for a poke cake! :)

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
The cake was good, but the icing could be improved. I made it w/o amaretto bc I didn't have it, but the icing turned out a bit too runny. I personally prefer a fluffier texture for the topping. Good cake though! Thanks! :)

Mexican Rice II

awesome, awesome, awesome! Truly authentic, turned out perfect. Used chicken bouillion to season my 'broth', added a little extra for flavor...served with refried beans and chicken enchiladas. Muah! Muy bien!

Kitty Litter Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
Made this for my son's 9th b-day party @ a bowling alley. It so rocked! "Has this litter box been used?" is asked repeatedly...haha...my boys gleefully tell them 'YES'!(brats).... I used a small kitty litter box, 3 cake mixes( 1 chocolate, 1 butter, 1 white), used all of the pudding, mixed in Heath toffee bits and what butterfinger pieces I had left, and extra cookie crumbs. Then after pressing it into the pan, frosted it with tan tinted fluffy frosting(I personally think tinting is an unnecessary step), AND I drizzled butterscotch sundae syrup over that before proceeding. It finished up beautifully with a runny #9 in the middle...And the poop scoop tucked neatly in the corner. The best part is that it tasted awesome! It is rich though, and will serve quite a crowd. The reactions alone are sooo worth it! LOL!

Triple Fudge Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
Well...first, these are NOT brownies by any stretch of the imagination-they remind me of microwave cake. *They are however an edible dessert, just ask my kids! The dh said we can have the whole pan for ourselves. Yay?

I have made this cake 5 times and passed the recipe out to 10 people! I drizzle the cake with chocolate and white chocolate glaze, garnish with maraschino cherries. *I am currently printing 8 more copies of this recipe to pass out at school! YUM!

(I was forced against my will to give this recipe a star, but I want you to know that if I could I would rate this NEGATIVE 5 STARS) The kids like it. But they don't count -

This recipe was okay, nothing special. It tasted fine, but lacked the creaminess it bragged of. Still looking...

Quick Hoppin' John Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This was really good, although I did make a few changes. I started by chopping one onion, 4 strips of bacon, 8oz of ham, 8oz smoked sausage in my food processor. Fried that up with about 1 1/2lb. ground beef. Drained fat, rinsed with hot water. I used 2 cans rotel and a can of diced tomatoes. Tossed in about a cup of shredded carrot and a stalk of celery, chopped, a 16oz bag frozen black-eyed peas, and doubled the rice(I had Uncle Ben's Spanish rice on hand). My 9yr old made up some cornbread muffins. We had a scrumptious supper!! Everyone at the table raved and had seconds!

Banana Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2006
* These are GREAT!!!! * As others suggested, I used applesauce instead of butter and 3/4C whole wheat flour. Also 1/4C wheat germ & 1/4C flax seed in place of the bran and added a tsp. of pumpkin pie spice. I only wish I'd had walnuts on hand! But they still came out wonderful regardless! Even a non-healthy junky friend liked them tremendously...she could not believe they were good for you food! ;)

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
THE BEST Sauce Yet is right!!! This one is off the charts in my opinion! One thing I highly recommend, though, is omitting the salt. Most canned tomato products have a high sodium content already(check the nutrition labels), so extra salt is not needed. This was the tastiest sauce I have ever served. I am so glad to have discovered this recipe. There is NO other option but to make my own sauce from now on, forget Ragu! Thanks for sharing....

No Bake Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2004
This recipe recieved 13 thumbs up from my panel of critics! My daycare/childrens' ministry were begging for something sweet to munch on. I'm so tired from all the Christmas baking, dealing with a head cold...Just didn't feel like doing anything too involved! These were extremely EASY, didn't take much effort. Now the kiddies are happy, and they just think I'm GREAT! Really good recipe!! Thanks!

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2004
**Absolutely perfect and delicious** The only thing I did different or added, I sprinkled the top with cinnamon/sugar, and I'm so glad I did! My husband is not a fan of this kind of stuff. With a little convincing he took a small bite of mine. A few minutes later he was back asking for a slice. Thanks for the recipe. I'm looking forward to another warm slice and a cup of hot tea!

Great BIG biscuits!!! I used Butter Crisco. They rose to a nice height, had good texture and taste. If you want more salty, omit the sugar or put less.
