Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2003
I have never cooked with barley - I surprised how easy it was. This soup was great, next time I will add a little more broth.

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2003
I would give this 6 stars if I could. It was comparable to the stuff the gourmet shop sells for $7 a jar. I doubled the jalepenos and reduced the pectin. Serve it over Cream Cheese and enjoy with wheat crackers. I will be giving this out to everyone at christmas time!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2003
Wow - these were awsome. They were a huge hit, I added 2 t. of a cinnamon spice mixture and some currents. Next time I will let them sit out for a few hours so they get a little hard. I can't wait to try them with orange zest and crasins soaked in OJ.

I was looking for something a little lighter. It was good, tastes a lot like banana bread. Thanks

Barbecued Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2003
I used a 2lb. roast, but did not decrease the sauce ingredients. I added some cayanne for heat. I cooked it for 6 hours before shredding it. Yummy

Jamaican Beef Patties

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2003
I added a little garlic and ginger and these were great. I was a little worried about rolling out the dough, it seemed too dry, I cooled it for an hour and it rolled out fine. Also, after I crimped the edges with a fork I trimmed them so they looked pretty. This recipe made me love curry - thank you!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2003
This is really good. I cooked the meat with beef broth instead of water and then I poured some of the juice in with the shredded meat - we ate it like tacos. Thanks for a great recipe!

One Bowl Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
I thought this was good! I used chicken stock instead of beef, since I was serving this with roast chicken. I also used half white half wild rice, but the wild rice took longer to cook.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2003
I would give this 6 stars if I could! I divided the recipe into 2 - 9" pans and froze the extra one! It wasn't real pretty, but the taste was superb! Next time I will use light sour cream.

Warm and Spicy Autumn Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
Good, I accidentally added the pinapple juice with the apple juice and I think that changed the flavor, it was still good, but only while it was warm. Also, I was expecting it to smell up the whole house which it did not! Good recipe though.

Caramel Popcorn

I burnt this :( but the stuff that did not burn was great! I cooked it on aluminum foil which may have caused the burning, next time I will use parchment paper. Thanks for a yummy recipe.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
I made the chips 2 days ahead of time and the salsa the morning of. I was worried since the fruit was out of season, but it turned out great! I also made a whole tortilla into a bowl, I baked it in a round dish and then served the salsa in that surrounded by the chips. Everyone raved about it! Thanks for a great recipe.

Turkey Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2003
Great recipe - I sauteed the veggies in bacon fat, because I had just cooked bacon for a different recipe (and pork fat rules!) I followed other reviewers recommendation to let the mixture cool before putting it in the crust. Excellent down home food!
