Ladyfingers

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2014
This turned out better than I thought! I need to work on my piping skills and they got bigger than I thought they would, so I didn't get anywhere near 3 dozen, but I am very pleased. I took the advise of some reviewers and chilled the batter a bit prior to baking. No more expensive store bought frozen lady fingers for my tiramisu!

Real NY Jewish Rye Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2014
Fabulous! I love it! I didn't have any potato flakes, so I grated 1/4 c. of a potato and reduced the water by as much. The crust is crunchy, but fine. It is not hard or thick. The inside is soft, but holds together well when sliced. I've struggled with bread in the past, but this recipe worked out great! The flavor is tasty tasty! :)

Chili Seasoning Mix II

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2014
This is great! A little spicy for my family. To adjust it for us, I halved the flour and crushed red pepper on the next batch. :) Perfect for us. Thank you!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2014
This is my first successful time making pancakes! The batter was a little thick, so I added an additional 1/4 c. milk. These are great! Bisquick can kiss my booty :) Thank you!

Chef John's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2014
These are great as is. The flavor is spot on and they are nice and soft. I would recommend doubling the recipe if you have teenagers though :) (If you like crispy, you can always bake an extra minute or two.)

GA Peach Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2014
It was good, but if I make it again, I will probably add some peach schnapps and a little ginger to give the flavor a little umph. The texture was excellent. One of the people eating the cake told me that he didn't know there were peaches in it as he couldn't taste them. I had to tell him that the peaches were those "yellow things" in the cake :(

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2013
The husband and I loved this recipe. The cookies were soft, a little chewy (in a good way), and flavorful. I wouldn't have called them "spicy" though. I'd have doubled the spices before calling them spicy.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
These cookies were great. They were mostly chocolate and nuts, with very little "cookie batter". I enjoyed the chunks of flavor, but I missed the chewy cookie part. On the second time making this recipe, I the advice of other reviewers and doubled the amount of every ingredient with the exception of the chocolate and nuts. This provided the chewy cookie part I was missing that would have increased my rating to 5 stars. Everyone loves these!

Chocolate Candy Bar Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
I have made this exact recipe, but my inner tweaker thinks the cake is best when you toast the pecans first and instead of run of the mill chocolate, use one 4 oz Ghirardelli milk chocolate baking bar and one 4 oz Ghirardelli 60% cacao baking bar. I chop them finely in the food processor prior to folding the chocolate it. This recipe also works great with "Black Magic Cake" if you don't want to use cake mix.

Vegetarian Mexican Lasagna

Love Love Love! Had it on the table quickly and it was tasty! I'm sorry that I didn't make it before. While I'm all for personalization to specific tastes, tweakers, don't get crazy, this recipe doesn't need tweaking. I'm lookig forward to leftovers! I made this again and I wish I could give this recipe more stars and another good review. Thanks so much DarcieA!

Libby's® Pumpkin Roll with Cream Cheese Filling

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
Easy and impresssive dessert. Tip: I was out of parchment paper, so I lined my baking sheet with aluminum foil and coated it with shortening. Sticking is not a problem. Also be liberal with the sugar on the towel and do not over mix the batter once the dry ingredients go in.

Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
Nice flaky crust. 5 stars for texture and appearance. It was also easy to work with and didn't stick to my rolling pin. It didn't have much flavor by itself though (3 stars). The second time I made this recipe it was for a pecan pie, so I added 1 Tbsp. sugar. It was wonderful. I also used the recipe a third time for a chicken pot pie. I added a dash of garlic poweder and a couple of pinches of thyme. It made a wonderful savory crust with flavor. This is a great recipe that is very versitale, but I think it needs some extras to make it a 5 star recipe.

Fast and Easy Tofu Lo-Mein

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
I really enjoyed this dish. It was easy to make. I would have never thought of using Ramen. I had tofu issues (as I usually do when I make tofu... it sticks to the pan), but my own tofu issues didn't take away from the dish. The localy owned and operated Chinese restaurant has 5 star lo mein, so I gave this recipe 4 stars as I really enjoyed it and I do plan to make this again. Thanks for sharing.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2011
This is an excellent base recipe. The texture of the scones is wonderful... Light and flakey. They are sweet, but not overly sweet. I don't have a box grater, so I cut the butter into the flour with a pastry blender. It worked fine. The possibilities with this recipe are endless. I will definately make these again. I recieved lots of positive comments on the blueberry vanilla scones I made. While the recipe only makes 8 scones, those things are huge!
