My Red Velvet Cake
About this Cook
Cooking for people I love and that appreciate it makes me feel really good and relieves stress. Making a special dish for someone is one of the ways I say "I love/care about you." I recently started selling some cakes and other baked goods to help supplement my income.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cakes, cheesecake, pot roast, and cooking spaghetti meat sauce made with deer meat. I like making anything that I can put pumpkin pie spice in. I try to eat healthy most of the time, but cooking fattening food is so much more fun.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking on Thanksgiving and Christmas with my Mom. We usually go to her house (her kitchen is bigger) and we cook all day, turning out the most awesome of dishes.
My cooking triumphs
My cousin told me that my Queen Anne Cake is better than his grandmother's!!! His grandmother is in her 80's and has been known as excellent cook and cake baker for over 50 years. My husband told me that my biscuits are as good as his grandmother's and I overheard him telling his mother as she was telling him how she makes pot roast that he didn't want to mess with my pot roast as I have it down to an art :) So far, I have taken home 3 ribbons out of 3 entries at the Cleveland County fair (2 blue and 1 white).
My cooking tragedies
Setting microwave popcorn on fire in the microwave using the popcorn button at the age of 16 was a major set back for me. I barely even used the microwave until well after I started college. I ate cold food for years! LOL! There was also a day (more recently than I care to admit) when I had to make 3 batches of cupcakes to get some that were good.

This turned out better than I thought! I need to work on my piping skills and they got bigger than I thought they would, so I didn't get anywhere near 3 dozen, but I am very pleased. I took the advise of some reviewers and chilled the batter a bit prior to baking. No more expensive store bought frozen lady fingers for my tiramisu!

Real NY Jewish Rye Bread
Fabulous! I love it! I didn't have any potato flakes, so I grated 1/4 c. of a potato and reduced the water by as much. The crust is crunchy, but fine. It is not hard or thick. The inside is soft, but holds together well when sliced. I've struggled with bread in the past, but this recipe worked out great! The flavor is tasty tasty! :)

Chili Seasoning Mix II
This is great! A little spicy for my family. To adjust it for us, I halved the flour and crushed red pepper on the next batch. :) Perfect for us. Thank you!
