Candy Bar Cake Icing on Black Magic Cake with chocolate cream cheese decor.
My Red Velvet Cake
About this Cook
Cooking for people I love and that appreciate it makes me feel really good and relieves stress. Making a special dish for someone is one of the ways I say "I love/care about you." I recently started selling some cakes and other baked goods to help supplement my income.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cakes, cheesecake, quick breads, and cooking spaghetti meat sauce made with deer meat. I like making anything that I can put pumpkin pie spice in. I even put it in my morning cup of green tea. I try to eat healthy most of the time, but cooking fattening food is so much more fun.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking on Thanksgiving and Christmas with my Mom. We usually go to her house (her kitchen is bigger) and we cook all day, turning out the most awesome of dishes.
My cooking triumphs
Recently my cousin told me that my Queen Anne Cake is better than his grandmother's!!! His grandmother is in her 80's and has been known as excellent cook and cake baker for over 50 years. My husband also recently told me that my biscuits are as good as his grandmother's.
My cooking tragedies
Setting microwave popcorn on fire in the microwave using the popcorn button at the age of 16 was a major set back for me. I barely even used the microwave until well after I started college. I ate cold food for years! LOL!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
The husband and I loved this recipe. The cookies were soft, a little chewy (in a good way), and flavorful. I wouldn't have called them "spicy" though. I'd have doubled the spices before calling them spicy.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV
These cookies were great. They were mostly chocolate and nuts, with very little "cookie batter". I enjoyed the chunks of flavor, but I missed the chewy cookie part. I think I will take the advice of other reviewers and increase the amount of every ingredient with the exception of the chocolate and nuts and see how they turn out then.

Chocolate Candy Bar Cake
I have made this exact recipe, but my inner tweaker thinks the cake is best when you toast the pecans first and instead of run of the mill chocolate, use one 4 oz Ghirardelli milk chocolate baking bar and one 4 oz Ghirardelli 60% cacao baking bar. I chop them finely in the food processor prior to folding the chocolate it. This recipe also works great with "Black Magic Cake" if you don't want to use cake mix.
