Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
This is a great base recipe for yummy granola bars. I make some of the modifications suggested, and the recipe varies depending on what I have on hand. I always reduce the sugar and usually reduce the cooking time by a few minutes.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
Great flavor and texture -- I made half a recipe. I loved this recipe and would make it again as written. My family and I thought it tasted better fresh the first evening than as leftovers the next day, so try to finish it up when you make it, if possible.

Better Than Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2011
This recipe was awesome. Everyone thought it was pumpkin pie. They were even more surprised when I told them it was butternut squash because it tasted so good. Thanks for this great information on how to use up squash! I only put in half the sugar called for because I like my desserts a little less sweet, but other than that I made it just like the recipe says.

Collard-Kielbasa Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
Made the crockpot version and loved it. Extremely tasty when following the recipe exactly. It's a little greasy because of the sausage, but the taste is worth the splurge.

Southern Style Thanksgiving Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
Tasted like Grandma's! I don't like as much salt, so I put less than the recipe, but other than that, I followed it as written.

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
We used toasted homemade bread -- a delicious recipe as written. I think this will be my new go-to stuffing recipe.

Smashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
Amazing flavor and texture! We will definitely make this again. I had fresh savory and rosemary, so I used them. Unfortunately, I didn't have any sage so I omitted it, but I plan to use it next time.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Beet Muffins

Reviewed: May 20, 2012
These muffins are great! They did an excellent job of "hiding the veggies"... I did not notice the beet at all! They were popular with friends. The only modification I made was to use a little less than half of the sugar called for in the recipe.

Dilled Potato Leek Chowder

Reviewed: May 20, 2012
Good thick soup. Mine turned out more like mashed potatoes rather than soup, but the flavor was good. I made the recipe as written.

Baked Rigatoni with Italian Sausage and Fennel

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
A winner for me. It makes 8 large servings -- we invited some friends over to help us eat it all! We loved it, and our friends loved it too. It took me a while to prepare it, but it was worth it.

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
Loved it! As the author states, it does taste great the next day (and beyond), so it made great leftovers. I used milk instead of cream to cut some of the calories, and it still tasted great.

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
Wonderful flavor! As the title suggests, this is the best cream of broccoli I've had so far. I used the stalks in addition to the florets -- just peel them first so they're not too bitter or tough.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
Wow -- I have never made such fluffy pancakes before! I was trying to use up leftover buttermilk, but these were so good I would buy it just for this recipe! These were easy to cook, but I reduced my heat to medium because my stove seemed to be burning the butter, which I was using to cook the pancakes.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2012
Everything the other reviews said about all of the flavors complementing each other was entirely true! This was a delicious salad. I had never made candied pecans before, but it was easy to do as stated in the instructions. We have continued to use the dressing on other salads and also enjoy it with those. I will make this often in the future.

Apple Yogurt Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2012
This recipe makes a dense, filling pancake. It is very delicious and so far also seems to freeze well. I grated my apple rather than dicing it to save time.

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2012
A very fluffy, soft bread with a crunchy crust. It baked up nicely in our bread machine on the light setting recommended in the recipe. Because it is a soft bread, it is very delicious for eating by itself; however, it makes it difficult to use for sandwiches because you have to cut it thick to avoid tearing the slice.

Cream of Cauliflower Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
This was a great hide-the-veggie recipe! We have trouble finding ways to use cauliflower, and this soup had a very subtle cauliflower flavor, so it was just what we were looking for.

Spinach Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2014
I would definitely make this again. I wanted to use this as a main dish, so I used a whole Jennie-O turkey kielbasa, which I think was closer to 14 ounces. Yummy!
