Chef John's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I would leave recipe exactly as it is (I didn't care for adding the extra cinnamon etc. as was suggested by someone, but each to their own taste). My husband picked up on it right away, and asked why it tasted different -- said not as good as other ones I'd made.

Roasted Parsnips with Mint and Sage

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
We loved this. I mixed equal carrots to parsnips to feed four (but two of us ate them all). The honey really does the trick, and I found using mint & sage a great combo. Terrific recipe!

Moist & delicious. I added the spices suggested, and certainly nuts. Next time will try the applesauce idea instead of butter. But very very good.

My husband says this is the best! followed recipe to the letter, and worked out just great. However, even though I first folllowed recipe exactly it seemsed too salty. I've made it twice since using less salt each time and still.....But very very tasty.

Dog Biscuits II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
My pups and neigbors' dogs loved these. Added twice the meat (cooked ground beef), and cut back on shortening due to fat in meat. Plus threw in some cornmeal & wheat germ. I used 1/2 cup of 1% milk for milk powder (had none) & water. Turned out great!! These should be kept in fridge or freezer to avoid spoilage. Next time will try making the oatmeal recipe but substituting peanut butter for grated cheese (or might half the recipe and try both). That recipe also sounds great like a good one.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
Used 1 pkg beef broth and water as out of veg stock. No zucchini or garbonzo beans so used leftover green&yellow beans, and rinsed chick peas. Also used 3/4 c barley, 1/3 c each of rice and macaroni. Left all other spices the same. Excellent soup! Had to be watered down some b/c of thickness but great. Comment was correct re pepper - don't used fresh ground -- too hot so use ordinary. Loved this one!
