Mic and I on my wedding day
Mic and I
About this Cook
I live on a farm in central Alberta, Canada with my wonderful fiance (husband as of July 9th!!), our heeler dog- Radar, and our 3 amazing horses; Mic (my horse), Crackers (Ty's horse), and Jake (an old gelding we adopted when Ty's Uncle passed away).
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking from a cookbook I've made consisting mostly of my favorite recipes from my mom and grandma. Roast beef and yorkshire puddings are my specialty but I am often trying something new with top rated recipes from this site.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pie!! Mom and gram are both experts at pastry and last Christmas mom came up and helped me out with feeding my fiance's WHOLE family (24 people)! They were all super impressed that everything was homemade from scratch- even the pastry!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for my family- with mom and Gram being such good cooks I take it as a real compliment when family comes over and says my cooking is "as good as mom's"!
My cooking tragedies
Bread... I SUCK at bread! I think yeast and I just have a really bad relationship. I'v ruined more loaves of bread than I care to think about!

Excellent and Healthy Cornbread
My first time ever making cornbread and it was very successful! Definately going in the keeper box!

Classic Macaroni Salad
LOVE this! I have made it pretty much every week all summer... it goes perfect with steak or fried chicken, and when you add a little bit of shredded cheddar cheese (about 1/4 cup) it allows you to fill all of your food groups! Its been a big hit for everyone I've served it to!

Mint Pesto Pasta
I followed this recipe exactly but added pork chops and served with garlic bread. I made the sauce a few hours before hand to let the flavours blend, annd I put the sauce over the linguinie in a wok and mixed it up to let the sauce heat up again. I served it to my hubby and a girlfriend who was visiting from out of town and we all agreed that it was lacking some major flavour! I definately reccomend adding much more garlic, basil, mint, salt, and pepper as this was quite bland as is! I fully expected "knock your socks off flavour" and it was far from that!
