Dog Biscuits I

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
So easy and my dog loved them. I didn't have wheat germ and used grape nuts cereal instead and it worked! My daughter and I made a batch of them for our family's dogs for Christmas.

Pierogi (Polish Dumplings)

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
The dough tasted like I remember my Polish grandmother used to make, however the potato stuffing wasn't quite the way I remembered it though it was quite good. My daughter even said they tasted better than the store bought ones. Very time consuming. My grandmother used to make large ones, so after rolling out and cutting several 3 inch circles I decided to pull individual balls of dough and roll them out separately...this worked great. All in all it's a good recipe...it just needs some tweaking based on individual tastes.

Pirates' Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
This was excellent! My husband and children loved the taste of this dish. I made two changes; instead of golden syrup I use dark brown sugar and instead of pineapple chunks I used crushed pineapple because it was what I had on hand. The leftovers were even tasty!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
I browned the meat before placing it into my slow cooker but otherwise I changed nothing. This was excellent and full of flavor. You could even serve this over egg noodles to feed more.

Mushroom, Leek, Chicken Sausage and Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2011
Go easy on the hot sauce! I gave this four stars only because 3 tablespoons of hot sauce may ruin this for some. I started with 1 tablespoon thinking I would add more as I went but one was enough! Excellent taste, my husband liked this one a lot. Also, as several people said, put the tortellini in only at the very end according to package directions or you'll end up with mush. Excellent warm weather treat!

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Excellent "go-to" cool weather soup. I used fat free half and half and celery instead of carrots (what I had) and it was excellent. Second time I'll use carrots just to see the difference in taste. It's gotta be great either way!

Garlic and Leek Ditalini

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
So tasty and simple! I happened to have a "leftover" leek and looked up any recipe to use it and came across this one. I had everything but the cream so I used fat free half and half that I had on hand. Delicious! My kids gobbled it up and requested that I make it again as soon as possible.

Bumbleberry Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2011
My husband actually requested a bumble berry pie even though we'd never tried one before. It was amazing! I used 3/4 cup of sugar as others had recommended and it was perfect for our taste. I used store bought crusts but made the top a lattice crust and it looked great. I would definitely make this again...super easy!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
This was a perfect recipe. I left out the cayenne only because my kids were going to eat it and don't like anything with a kick but I'm sure it would have been the perfect final addition.

Cream Puff Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
Fantastic! Though I would call it more of an "eclair cake". I cut the recipe in half and prepared it in a round 9 1/2" cake pan. I got SO many compliments and was even told by my sister in law that this is her favorite dessert I've made. Even tastes great the next day though the crust is soggy by then.

Candied Chicken Breasts

Excellent taste but some cutlets came out too dry. I'm not sure where I went wrong but my husband loved them anyway!

Chocolate Bar Fondue

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Kids and adults loved it. The alcohol is not a factor as it only adds flavor to the chocolate.

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Easy and delicious! I made this for Thanksgiving and it got rave reviews. I also made sugared limes to garnish the edge of the pie with the unused Key limes.

Unstuffing Side Dish

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
Excellent Thanksgiving side dish. I only gave it 4 stars because the ingredients of 2 1/2 cups of broth is misleading. It should say "approximately", then I would have paid attention to "add enough broth to moisten". It turned out a bit soggy. The taste was great though. This is the first time I've ever made a home made stuffing that wasn't all meat and potatoes. I put a little into a small casserole just so I could taste it. It is outstanding. My daughter tried it and said "OMG it's SO good! No, wait...it's BEYOND good, it's EXCELLENT!"...she finished the bowl.

Eggplant Croquettes

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
I couldn't even wait to finish frying these before sampling one...yum! I used Sargento's reduced fat four cheese Italian instead of the cheddar but otherwise I followed the recipe. I can't wait for my husband to try these...I will definitely make these again.

Five Hour Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
This was so tasty! I made a few changes though...I used fresh ingredients, substituted celery for the water chestnuts, left out the tapioca and used Marsala wine instead of Burgundy. I browned the beef in a pan first and then put everything into my crockpot and cooked it on low for 5 hours. I served it over egg noodles and my family loved it and went in for seconds!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
I followed the directions and it came out perfect. Mine stayed in the oven about 3 1/2 hours after I turned it off. And I used the water bath to keep it from cracking, double wrapped the springform pan in tinfoil as suggested. The only two changes I would make is perhaps a tad more sugar, though my family didn't agree. Plus I would place a piece of tin foil loosely on top of the pan about an hour after the oven was shut off to prevent further browning. It looked great just a bit golden on the outer edges that I would have preferred not to have but that's just me being picky. I made a strawberry sauce and served that along with hot fudge sauce and caramel sauce for topping options. The purists ate it with nothing on top and raved! A perfect go-to cheesecake recipe and very simple.
