Tasty Tuna Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
They were OK, kind of like crab cakes. Unfortunately neither of my toddlers ate more than a bite of the burgers, they only ate the buns. :( I don't think I'll be making this again.

S'mores Pops

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2013
Super easy to make, my 3-year old and 5-year old made these themselves while I was making tortillas. Tastes yummy too. 5 stars for being super quick and easy to assemble.

Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2013
Pretty good! Three of us (myself, hubby, and toddler son) liked it, one (toddler daughter) did not. I omitted the rice, reduced the milk, and increased the cheese until the consistency looked right. I prefer the "roasted garlic cauliflower" recipe on this site, but this is a nice alternative.

Hawaiian Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2013
Yummy, but doesn't taste like King's Hawaiian. Don't sub vanilla extract for coconut extract, tastes like something is missing w/ vanilla. Second time, I made it as directed, except using 1 1/4 c. pineapple and juice, no wet milk, and 2T. dry milk, it was moist and delicious. Edited 3/19/13: Added 1 tsp sweet buttery dough flavor and it overflowed the pan! Surprised that 1 extra tsp liquid could do this! Suggest placing a baking sheet under your loaf pan if you're baking in the oven just in case (I see others have had problems with overflowing too, even w/o any extra liquid).

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
These were pretty good. I baked for an hour (covered with foil for 40 minutes and without foil for the last 20 minutes). I should have given them a quick broil at the end like the other reviews suggested, I think that would have bumped it up from a 3.5 star dish to a 4 star dish.

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
This was really excellent, and easy to make. Moist and delicious. Followed recipe exactly with no changes. It is good with roasted red potatoes and carrots cooked in brown sugar and butter, the flavors go well together.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
Very easy and good. I used regular carrots cut smaller rather than mini carrots.

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2013
I didn't like it and my kids didn't like it. My hubby said that it was good but needed texture. I probably won't make this again.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2013
I didn't like it and my kids didn't like it, I think the taste was too subtle even though I let it sit for an hour after preparing it. My hubby did like it though, so I'll give it two stars for him. Too much prep for too little flavor, I won't make this again.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
Taste was good, but mine looked nothing like the picture, mine came out kind of flat and misshapen. Perhaps it's my technique. :) I'll try it again.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
I did 3x the topping and the swirl in the middle, it came out like a banana bread minus the bananas. It's good enough but not remarkable and feels like it's missing something. It is sweet enough but I don't think I'll make it again.

Spam Musubi

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
It was good, but I prefer my mom's marinade without the oyster sauce (I was born and raised in Hawaii and I guess I am used to her version).

Monte Cristo Sandwich - the Real One

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
My husband and I liked it, but my toddlers did not. My 5-year old asked for a "regular" ham and cheese sandwich instead and my 3-year old only picked the ham out of it. I personally would give it 3.5 stars, but I don't think I'll make it again since the kids didn't like the combination of sweet and savory together.

Carrot Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
It was OK. I would give it 3.5 stars. Taste was very mild. Hubby liked it, my two toddlers did not. IMO, not tasty enough to warrant making again given the extra work of grating the carrots.

Smothered Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Pretty good! My two toddlers and hubby liked it. I normally hate green beans and I didn't hate this dish, so I guess it was pretty good. ;) 4 stars.

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
Like banana cream pie, but at a fraction of the effort. Wonderful! I used chessmen instead of vanilla wafers to make a top and bottom crust. It sat overnight because the kids unexpectedly slept through the night and it's perfect.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
4 stars. It was good but a LOT of prep work. I used tenderloins and cut my cheese and ham into thin strips to accomodate the tenderloins' size. I coated in flour, dipped in egg wash, and did final coat in bread crumbs. While it was good, I am not sure it was worth the effort and probably won't make it again.

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

I made this w/ a mixture of broccoli & cauliflower and it turned out great. I also baked covered in foil and removed the foil at the end right before I added the cheese. 5 stars, easy and yummy.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
This was really delicious, I'll definitely make it again. Following the advice of other reviewers I sauteed the vegetables in bacon grease and threw in 4 crumbled strips of bacon at the end. I stirred milk into my roux, only 3c. because I like my chowder thick. Awesome!

Cheddar Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Very good, easy to make, and quick! It doesn't get any better than this! Definitely a 5 star recipe. I used chives instead of parsley and didn't bother brushing down with butter at the 10-minute mark, I just threw everything together into the dough and they came out marvelous.
