About this Cook
I had a dad that taught me and my sister to cook at a very young age. Around 8 or 9. Love to bake and cook and use my own twist(s) on recipes. Have been told on numerous occasions, that I need to write a cookbook. I just like to cook at home and for friends. Love to cook mostly in Winter Time. Thanksgiving is at my house. I use my mom's old southern recipes for her Turkey and Dressing. Everyone loves them. Love to make baskets and fill them with things for the people who need them. Give a lot of them away when I can afford to. Love to help people in need, when I can. I even make my own Snow cone Syrups. Cooked on the stove.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Salad, Potato Salad. Shredded Beef and Pork for sandwiches. Pies and cookies. Cooking at the Little League Football home games. Me and my 74 Yr old husband are in charge of the Concession Stand and the Menu. I am 60.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey and Dressing that came from my mother. The family get together's we have at Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
My Chicken Salad and Potato Salad. Have request for these the most when we have family cookouts and potlucks at church. Chicken Pot Pie. Ran out of Bar B Que Sauce once and decided to make my own. Have made it ever since, but is different all the time. Husband loves it. Put in Baked Beans at football game and in some pulled pork and got great feedback from the parents, etc., Sold out of Pulled Pork.
My cooking tragedies
First time I ever made Gravy, I put a whole cup of flour in it. (was very young) & What a mess. My dad just stood back and laughed. My first biscuits we're like rocks. Flat and hard. Ha! Have learned a lot from my mistakes.

Apple Harvest Pound Cake with Caramel Glaze
I made this for the first time today and I don't have a bundt pan so I used my Angel Food Cake Pan. It smelt like it was burning, so I had to take it out after one hour and scrape off some of the edges. Looks ok. Just hope inside is done and ok and taste good. I stuck butter knife into a couple places and it came out clean, so I an hoping. I tasted the glaze & it was really tasty.
