Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
This recipe did not impress me all that much. Maybe I need to make it again. The batter was so thick and it still tasted like a box cake. It was ok, as far as a cake goes, dark chocolate color, but lacked something for me.

Country Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
For me, this recipe was quite easy. I used my KitchenAid mixer to cream the butter/sugar for 6 minutes. This is the second time I've used this recipe and hubby loves it, so do I. We prefer a stronger vanilla flavor so I omitted the lemon and added more vanilla. It's great! Thanks for another great recipe.

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
I made this recipe today. I had chosen 3 new recipes to try. I made it as written except I increased the vanilla because I usually always do that when making cookies. The results were as promised, slightly crisp outside, soft inside. The flavor was good, but I could tell a taste difference using the shortening as I normally use all butter in my cookies. I'll be trying others, but this one will be kept, it's definately a good basic soft cookie, not cakey at all. Thank your for sharing with us!

Hot Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
We really love this recipe, but I don't put it in the oven. I mix it all up get it warmed up in the microwave, then put it in the crockpot until bubbly around the edges, (about 2 hrs on low). It is great with tortilla chips.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
Followed this recipe exactly, adding only 1 cup dried cranberries, 1 cup white chips and 1/2 TBS fresh orange zest. Baking for the shortest time produces a soft cookie, the longer you bake, the more crisp and dry it becomes, so you are in control of how they turn out in that respect. Hubby says, THIS is also a keeper as well as The Best Oatmeal Cookie recipe. I love recipes that allow me to add my own extra flavorings but produce a great result on their own. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Both get 5 stars, too hard to choose!

Frozen Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
I just made these muffins. I searched for a recipe that used frozen blueberries as I had them on hand. I followed the recipe exactly, but did not use the ginger/sugar on top. I did use the granulated sparkling sugar since we don't care for gingery flavors. Hubby is in heaven on earth for the moment. I got 12 regular and 6 jumbo muffins from this recipe. They are moist, flavorful and hard to keep from eating one after the other :) Even though there is just two in our household, bet I have a tough time getting many into the freezer! Try this and enjoy! 7/28/09: I tried a recipe from a country cookbook and it did not compare to this one at all! What a waste of time it was, but this one is the bomb! No more new recipes for blueberry muffins at our house!

Buttermilk Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
I have made this pound cake several times and it has been consistently perfect everytime. We prefer a bit more vanilla and a bit of almond flavoring in pound cake and this one will be one of the best keepers! I will always try new recipes, it's a hobby! Thank you!

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
Not bad at all. Flavor was a bit off, maybe a biscuity taste. I'm sure adding some spice or flavors would cover it. Much cheaper than TS, I'll make again.

The Best Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
This recipe is great. I made adjustments by adding 1/4 cup flour, and doubled the baking soda as suggested by others. I did refrigerate the dough and did not have spreading issues at all. The second batch I used crasins, white vanilla chips and fresh orange zest and oh what a great combo! To keep them from getting too hard, do not overbake. They will not look done, but the time on the cookie sheets finishes them. Also, thank you to the reviewer who suggested truly "beating" the sugars and butters for several minutes. I did, using my KitchenAid and stirred the rest of the ingredients by hand. Hubby is munching them and has a bag packed for work tomorrow! UPDATED 2/14/09: I tried Soft Oatmeal Cookies from this site and it is also very good. Hard to pick a favorite, both are great! So 5 stars for both recipes!

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
I made this for a potluck and also for our family dinner. EVERYONE loved it! I also doubled the toppings. I don't have orange juice on hand, so I used a tablespoon of fresh orange zest and it was delicious! Thank you for this great recipe!

Sugar Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
I made this recipe today and served it with dinner tonight. I have to say it is delicious! Even my hubby who said "I don't like that kind of pie" ate it and asked if there was more! I prefer a deeper dish pie and most my plates are larger ones so I adjusted the recipe for 10 servings. It worked perfectly :) While this pie tastes very similar to the Wick's pie, it has a much smoother texture and fresher taste. This will become a favorite! Thank you for sharing with us.

This dip is very tasty and always a hit at all our potlucks. You can adjust the heat with additional hot sauce. It is yummy with tortilla chips.

Pepperoni Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
This recipe was fast and good. It will be a keeper at our house. I also used the Pillsbury Italian bread loaf that others mentioned, simply for time savings. Husband loved it and suggested we try canadian bacon, swiss cheese and a smear of mustard next time. Works for me!
