Shrimp Egg Foo Yung

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
Simply DELICIOUS! The sauce is wonderfully flavorful and the soy sauce is not over powering the flavors as some sauces do. I left out the extra salt as I don't like super salty foods but it is still plenty salty because of the Soy Sauce and what is added to canned broth. YUMMY!!

This is a great breakfast treat! Easy to put together, and tastes even better when backed in a well seasoned iron skillet. :)

Brunch Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2005
The best thus far of the scone recipies that I have tried! I doubled the butter, as suggested by another rater, went ahead and added a quater of a cup of flour to make 2 cups of flour. I added one teaspoon on almond extract and drizzled honey on top of them before baking. OH HOW DIVINE they came out! The honey crusted the tops and added a little more sweetness to them. The scones are light and fluffy and are divine when dipped in coffee!!

Scones

It's...OK. The dough tastes great, but after it has been baked the scones are really dry and blane. Bluk! Great when dunked into coffee however! But I was looking for something a little more moist, and this one is not it.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2005
Oh such a wonderful starter, and it takes five days less than most starters to begin cooking with. I took the Plain and Simple Sourdough recipie and added the Amish starter to it as well as 3 table spoons of sugar to the warm water and yeast mix (tradition method, no bread machine used). The bread came out tasting like Chalah bread! This one is a keeper in my reciepe book! I LOVE IT!!

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2005
I don't have a bread machine so I comprimised. I added 3 tablespoons of sugar warm water and yeast mix and set aside until foaming. Once everything else was added, I kneaded for 10 minuted, let rise until doubled, punched down, split the dough and placed into two loaf pans, let rise again until doubled, then baked at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. I used the Amish Friendship Sourdough starter, and it came out tasting more like a sour Chalah bread! A very sweet, with a hint of sourdough, bread!!

Herman Sourdough Starter

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2005
The starter smells wonderful, but when it came to making the bread, it came out quite bland. Made the apartment building smell like a brewery, but is a nice smell. Not sure if I did something wrong with the starter, or if I just need to add some fresh sugar to the bread recipe.

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2004
Added two cloves garlic (need more) and one can of spiced, diced tomatoes, floured and breaded the beef cubes and excluded the cornstarch. Only used 2 bouillon cubes and 3 cups of water as suggest by others, 4 would have been too many. This way turned out great! Gravy was really good with buttered bread. Nummy!
