About this Cook
I am a married mother of one son and have enjoyed cooking since childhood.I really go in spurts where I will not cook much for a time then cook every spare minute I have for a couple weeks or so. I like to get ideas for recipes then make them my own. I've been visiting here for years to "borrow" ideas and then see what I can come up with. I have been a veterinary technician for almost 20 years, and I LOVE it. I enjoy baking treats to share at work for birthdays or just because. My co-workers seem to appreciate it, as well.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook in my crockpot and I like finding new ways to use the venison my husband brings home for he, and our son, to enjoy. Other than chili or jerky, I can usually do without it, but they enjoy it and I am happy to see them eating it because it uses what he hunts and it's also a lower fat option.
My cooking triumphs
A prime rib this past Christmas for a small family gathering. It was delicious and it helped create a wonderful family day. When my husband asks "did you write THIS one down?", I know it's a keeper. I have a habit of fiddling with recipes and ideas and never keeping track of what I did so that by the time they taste it and are really happy with it, I can't be certain how I created it.
My cooking tragedies
I can't make boxed brownies and I don't want to talk about it. ;)

Felix K.'s 'Don't even try to say these aren't the best you've ever eaten, because they are' Chocolate Chip Cookies
For us, this was a wonderful cookie. I didn't change anything. I even froze some of the dough and used it in the cookie dough cupcakes from this site that I previously reviewed, for a going away party, recently, and it made a great cupcake, perfect.

Scotch Eggs
I made these a while back, with 2 kinds of scones, to take to a meeting my boy was having before his big trip to the British Isles. We followed the directions, mostly, but did use a lb each of spicy and regular pork sausage.(we doubled the recipe) and skipped the W. sauce and flour after looking at a few other recipes. Everyone in the group was hesitant but they ended up loving these and I shared the recipe with most of the mothers. He rolled them all, and I fried them. (he is 12)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.
I made these for my son's birthday party, yesterday, and they were devoured! I frosted them with a chocolate butter cream, and I used a yellow cake mix. I made devil's food with white frosting which were also eaten until gone, but the cookie dough ones did go first. Adults and kids alike, loved them! I know they don't "need" another 5 star review, but I am leaving one, anyway. Great idea and great recipe! Thank you.
