Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2004
Very, very good. I used beef broth instead of water, and put in more vegetables than what the recipe called for. I cooked a 2.75lb chuck roast for about 9 hours, and it was falling apart when I took it out of the slow cooker. Very filling, and comforting. Great recipe!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2004
I made this as a special treat for my husband on Valentine's Day. They are very rich and so delicious. I haven't had a Cinnabon, so I can't compare, but these cinnmon rolls are something special. I don't have a bread machine, so I combined the yeast and all the wet ingredients in my mixer first, then added the flour and salt. The dough was really easy to work with, too. Great recipe.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2003
These cookies were not only very easy to make, but really delicious. I chilled the dough for 30 minutes before I handled it, and doubled the amount of cinnamon and sugar. Watch out - they're addictive.

Marinated Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 24, 2003
These kabobs are absolutely delicious! I made them for my wedding reception, and they were eaten in a flash. I used 1/2 honey and 1/2 corn syrup in the marinade, and let them marinate several hours. I also used different colors of bell peppers, and whole, small mushrooms. I love these.

California Salad Bowl

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
This salad is great... but very rich! I almost cut up an extra avacado to put in the salad, but as I discovered, that would have been overkill. This salad would make a wonderful lunch with some chicken cut up in it... its filling, and tastes awesome. I used black olives instead of green.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
This pie is so divinely good! I used all 5 egg yolks, and about a can and a half of sweetened condensed milk. I also increased the amount of lime juice to about 2/3s of a cup - these proportions gave it the perfect amount of sweet-tart flavor for my tastes. I also added the zest of 3 key limes for extra flavor, and 2 small drops of green food coloring for a very light lime color. While I usually prefer whipped cream, I topped it with whipped topping, because that is what my boyfriend's family prefers, (I had cooked dinner for them.) and I think it works better with the rich filling than heavy cream would. Light cream would probably be just as good. Everyone loved this pie... its easy, quick, and delicious. What more could you want?

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2003
I really enjoyed this dish. The sauce is very flavorful, and the chicken comes out very tender. I made a few minor changes, I thinned the sauce out with some milk, and used about 2 TB. butter as 1/4 cup seemed unecessary. It is a bit salty, but over the angel hair the sauce was perfect. Even my boyfriend loved it, and its difficult to get him to like chicken.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2002
Its good that this recipe makes so many cookies... they're delicious. I gave many of them away, and everyone said later they wished they had taken more. I used half semi-sweet chocolate chips, and half milk chocolate, and the combination made the cookie more interesting. Very tasty.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2002
This makes a great apple pie! I added some cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of cloves to the butter-sugar syrup... it was divine. I didn't need 8 apples to fill the pie shell, though. Everyone loved it. This is my new apple pie recipe.

While this recipe doesn't taste anything like the fried rice you get in chinese resturants, its still pretty tasty.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2002
I made this for a dinner with my boyfriend's parents, and it was a big hit. Even though my boyfriend usually rebels when fruit is involved, he really enjoyed this salad and has asked me to make it again soon. All of the ingredients are very complementary.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2002
This is a lovely recipe. I did a few things different, though. I added garlic, a smidgen of dried dill, fresh parsley and frozen green beans to the filling, and used only a top crust to cut down on fat and calories. Also, I didn't have celery seed, so I used 1/2 tsp of celery salt and omitted the regular salt. The end result was flavorful, filling, and very comforting. Don't wait for cold weather to make this!

Breaded Chicken Fingers

The breading that coats the chicken is lovely, and marinating it in buttermilk really adds some moistness and flavor. I will be making this again.

Linguini with Broccoli and Red Peppers

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2002
I really enjoyed this dish. It makes for a very nice light supper with a green salad. It is a little dry, but I just added an extra tablespoon of olive oil. The flavors of the vegetables really come through.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2002
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this pizza crust. Its much softer and "breadier" than my old recipe. Very good for those of us who like a thick, hearty crust. I'll be making this again.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2002
This pumpkin bread is absolutely delicious! My boyfriend has even requested it for his birthday cake. I bake it in a large Bundt pan for an hour, as I don't have three loaf pans. I also slightly increase the amount of cinnamon, and double the amount of ginger, as I really like ginger. This recipe is so good... and very easy.
