About this Cook
I have been cooking regularly since I was 12 years old... its relaxing, and a creative outlet for me. I mostly cook for myself and my boyfriend, although I also like to cook for our families and friends.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, and cooking. I like cooking 'homestyle' meals, as well as meals that have more of a gourmet feel to them. I make most things from scratch, and love experimenting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my mom for Thanksgiving is one of the few times I can tolerate others in the kitchen. We make a ridiculous amount of food, but its alway fun.
My cooking triumphs
I remember being very proud of a chocolate gateau and lemon sponge cake I made when I was about 15. Ever since then, when I lived at home, I always made that cake for my mother on Mother's Day. I'm also proud of my Black Forest Cake.
My cooking tragedies
I was trying to make some zuchinni-potato pancakes... and they just weren't working. Trying to salvage the batter, I put it into a casserole and baked it for a while. The stuff was inedible! Also, when I was 5 or 6, I made coleslaw, but ruined it at the last minute by adding relish. I forgot relish went into potato salad, not coleslaw!

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast
Very, very good. I used beef broth instead of water, and put in more vegetables than what the recipe called for. I cooked a 2.75lb chuck roast for about 9 hours, and it was falling apart when I took it out of the slow cooker. Very filling, and comforting. Great recipe!

Clone of a Cinnabon
I made this as a special treat for my husband on Valentine's Day. They are very rich and so delicious. I haven't had a Cinnabon, so I can't compare, but these cinnmon rolls are something special. I don't have a bread machine, so I combined the yeast and all the wet ingredients in my mixer first, then added the flour and salt. The dough was really easy to work with, too. Great recipe.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
These cookies were not only very easy to make, but really delicious. I chilled the dough for 30 minutes before I handled it, and doubled the amount of cinnamon and sugar. Watch out - they're addictive.
