My Allrecipes Story
Try as I might, I cannot remember when, exactly, I first discovered Allrecipes.com. I have been looking up recipes on the internet for several years now and it seems like the site I was always directed to in my search was to Allrecipes.com.
From there, I have found some of the best recipes that I have ever made! In fact, a lot of them are BETTER than anything I’ve ever ordered in a nice restaurant! One particular recipe comes to mind for a slow cooker bolognese sauce. Oh my, that is a great sauce! I am Italian and have been making sauce for at least 30 years and I can tell you this is a sauce that would rival any Italian cook’s sauce. That is a pretty bold statement! But, it is a true statement!
Besides the amazing sauce recipe, there is an absolutely fabulous Greek/house dressing ( I called it that because that’s it’s name!!!) that will make you feel like you are enjoying it right there on one of the most beautiful Greek Islands. It is simply fantastic.
So, if you ask me what makes me stay with this amazing site, well, it’s because there is no comparison to the others. Oh, don’t get me wrong, there are some very fine sites from which to get recipes, but none as consistent and, in my opinion, honest as this one. By honest, I mean the way that these recipes are tried and reviewed by someone like me; just one of the many home cooks out there that want quality meals to prepare and serve to our families and friends.
I have recently been fortunate enough to be chosen to be an Allrecipes Allstar Ambassador and I can honestly say, I couldn’t be more proud to be involved in such
a wonderful program. I look forward to each activity that we are given each month. For me, it is a way to connect with other cooks in the world who I can interact with, learn from, and laugh with on a regular basis. The experience is one that I consider to be a privilege to be a part of.
Something that I have enjoyed since becoming an Allstar are the partners that Allrecipes teams up with. So far, we have been fortunate in that we have teamed up with Fiber One, Al Fresco Chicken Sausage and The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board in partnership with America’s Dairy Farmers for the Go Bold With Butter program. This has been such a positive experience for me.
The recipes that I have made from these partnerships have been easy and some that I may not have ever discovered on my own. The food is a major part of this program, but for me, it goes a lot farther.
This relationship with Allrecipes has become such a pleasant surprise in that I have made some friends who share the same passion as I do. I love this program and I know that I would not have met these amazing people if it wasn’t for my involvement with the Allrecipes Allstars Ambassador Program. As far as I’m concerned, I am where I want to be and I look forward to a long relationship with this company.

Great blog! I agree - I love the Allstar program and am so glad to have met lots of people who, like me, enjoy cooking. And don't think it's odd in the least to take pictures of their food. I think my family thinks I'm nuts.

About Me
I love to cook and entertain. Nothing makes me happier than having a house full of friends and family. To me good food and good company go hand in hand. When people are enjoying the food that I made, it warms my soul.
My favorite things to cook
This is a tough one...I love to cook most everything. I am most interested in mediterranean cooking, but Thai cooking is also something I enjoy. I also love to grill and of course, I love good old down home southern cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My absolute favorite tradition is cooking the turkey and all of the fixin's for Thanksgiving. I alternate the turkey from year to year, switching between 2 different recipes, but the sides are pretty much the regular traditional stuff. I do, however, try to .lighten up the recipes whenever possible
My cooking triumphs
My triumphs happen when the people I am cooking for ask for seconds or when they ask me for the recipe! Nothing makes me happier than seeing people enjoying my food. For me, cooking = love!
My cooking tragedies
I recently made a dish that was simply awful! I purchase a rack of lamb from the grocery store that was, well let's just say, past it's prime! The entire house filled up with a VERY rancid smell that even the neighborhood dogs crossed the street to avoid walking past my house! I ended up throwing the entire thing out. It doesn't happen to me as a rule because there is always something you can do to make it come out alright. Not this time though. It was a disaster! Rancid meat is just that! The next time I was in that store, I mentioned it to the meat manager. I still had my receipt, but the product and it's packaging were long gone. He made it right and gave me a new one. I will always buy my meat from him from now on!
