About this Cook
I like to cook when I have time but like most people I don't have the time to do elaborate meals on a daily basis. I am a yoga teacher (check out my website at www.serenityyoga.ca) and take care of my husband, son and loveable but crazy Springer Spaniels, Buddy and Emmy. I love quick and easy and healthy meals!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook stir-fries and anything that goes in the slow cooker. I'm a morning person who doesn't like to face the "what's for dinner?" question at 5:00 every day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big Christmas and other special occasion dinners. I don't often host these events (I get stressed out!) but I love to help my mom or mother in law in the kitchen at big family gatherings.
My cooking triumphs
Baking birthday cakes for my son like the fire truck cake that was a big hit at his 3rd birthday party.
My cooking tragedies
Anything that gets me stressed out - like trying to host Thanksgiving dinner one year. I couldn't seem to get everything ready at the same time. I guess that just comes with practice!

Refreshing Lentil Salad
Good recipe and fully enjoyed. NOTE: You MUST rinse your dried lentils very well before using.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia
So funny that this is the recipe of the day today because I found it yesterday and made it last night! Everyone here really liked it. It's simple and quick but tastes great. Watch carefully, though, it doesn't take 30 min to bake. Our fillets were frozen and it was more like 15 min. I'll make this regularly.

Split Pea Soup with Tofu
Gotta give this one 5 stars. I made a big batch and I find myself looking forward to eating it. It's wonderfully hearty, warm and nourishing.
