i am a southern woman and grew up eating comfort food (mexican). we were use to eating with tortillas as our utensils and trying out spicy food. i like to make childhood dishes i remember my mom making for us. you never use a measuring utensil, eye balling it was the way to make things and always tasting the food before u served it to family or friends. i recently tried making indian food. a quick curried chicken recipe that turned out wonderful tasting.. one yr i made a pecan pie for christmas and i was competing for the best pie with one of my daughters and as someone took it out of the fridge it fell and broke in pieces with glass in it. noone tried it and i lost the pie contest.lol
