Cheddar Bacon Hamburgers

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
I HATE hamburgers, but I had one of these and actually enjoyed it! Needless to say, kids and DH loved them. I followed the recipe, other than adding salt. Thanks for the great post!

Broccoli Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Had unexpected company for dinner, so tried this recipe. All wanted a copy before they left, it was wonderful. I used a combination of a little bit of frozen green beans, and a little bit of a cauliflower/broccoli/carrot combination that I had on hand. I topped with the entire small package of stuffing I had. It was delicious, and GONE. Thanks for saving the day with your great recipe!

Baked Fish and Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
While I loved that everything cooked in one dish, we all found the fish to be kind of boring. I'll probably try this dish again, but I'll add more herbs to the fish to give it a little more flavour. *Tried this again since first review, and added a sprinkling of the following to the fish: dill, seasoned salt, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder. NOW this is an excellent recipe, thanks.

Almond-Topped Fish

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
This fish was amazing! We enjoyed it so much, the gang wants it once a week from now on. The only thing I did differently was to use Tilapia, as that was the only fish I had on hand. A little mushroom rice and a salad and you've got the perfect, quick meal.

Mushroom Kabobs

Reviewed: May 26, 2007
Excellent marinade for veggies. I've made this 6 or 7 times now, and it's excellent every time. I sometimes add zucchini pieces, or onion wedges and I usually use a red and yellow pepper for colour, and because we enjoy them more than the green.

Hearty Hash Brown Dinner

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2007
We thought this was very good in the slow cooker, and then we tried it in the oven as well and loved it. In the oven I mixed the layers up -put the beef in the bottom of the casserole dish, then the veggies, then cheese, then potatoes so that as it cooks, the potatoes get a little crispy on top, which we love. Added half of the fried onions in with the potatoes and added the rest on top for the last 5 minutes. We've mixed it up with different flavour soups as well. Great!

Cheese Quesadillas

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2007
Good recipe Luke - I left my oven rack a little farther from the broiler, and left them in for the time allotted and they were perfect. We put some sliced black olives on some, and some diced tomatoes on others, dipped in salsa at the table and everyone raved!

Taco Salad with Ranch Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2007
Been making a recipe like this for years with the following changes - place lettuce on each person's plate, top with diced fresh tomatoes, shredded cheese, olives. Cook chicken, add 1/4 cup salsa and 1/4 cup ranch dressing and mix just till warm. Put some on top of each salad, and top with crumbled tortilla chips if desired. We prefer it this way as the warm chicken/sauce melts the cheese a little.

Onion-Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
I've been making these for years, I bake uncovered and stir twice while cooking. They're also excellent wrapped in foil and cooked on the BBQ. My kids love the "little crunchy things" so much, I often dice an onion and add in order to have more "crunchy things"-- Don't tell them it's onions!

Shirazi Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2006
Excellent, refreshing salad. Use a slotted spoon to serve, as the salt brings out the juices of the vegetables. Whole family enjoyed, even kids, although I did use less onion than recipe called for.

Tomato Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2006
Excellent salad, didn't chill, as that can cause tomatoes to lose their flavour. Yes, there were some juices accumulated by the time we served it, but we just used a slotted spoon. Only put in a little onion, as the kids aren't crazy about it. We all enjoyed it this way! Thanks.

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
I've been doing one like this for years, differences being: after covering with mayo/mustard combo, top with grated cheddar and a little parmesan, then microwave for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheeses. Much easier, and we prefer the cauliflower not to be browned.

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
Excellent recipe! Threw all but the sour cream in the slow cooker the night before, and I think it gave the beef extra flavour. I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned. The whole family raved.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
Excellent recipe! Only changes I made were that I added all the spices to the onions and butter...mom taught me that many years ago...makes it easier to get the flavours all through the stuffing. I also finely chopped the mushrooms, so that we had the flavour, but they were disguised for the kids! Only used 2 cups of broth and cooked for about 5 1/2 hours, stirring three times to prevent sticking. All raved, thanks!

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2005
Made this for the second time, and everyone raved again. I did add a little garlic powder to the flour for added flavour, and only used 1/4 tsp of salt. This time I didn't slice the potatoes, but used small new ones, cut in half. We actually like that better, and like another reviewer, I moved them to the bottom of the pan for the last ten minutes of cook time. Thanks for the great recipe.

Cauliflower with Dijon Sauce

We love this....been making it for years. I steam the whole head, drain well, cover with the mayo/regular yellow mustard mixture, top with grated cheddar, and microwave for 1 minute to melt the cheese. Try it, you'll love it!

Pasta with Fresh Tomatoes and Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2005
Wow!! Kids raved and hubby loved it! I was out of green onions, so I added 1/4 tsp dried minced onion. Used rotini for the pasta, and of course added a little garlic powder cause everything's better with garlic! Thanks for the great, quick recipe.

Beef and Biscuit

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2005
Excellent! Used: 2 lb extra lean beef, a 14 oz can of tomato sauce, grated cheddar, 2 cans crescent rolls. (Ingred.'s I had on hand). I added about 1/8 tsp of cumin as well to the sauce. As per others, I baked bottom layer of dough first. Everyone raved. Thanks for the great recipe.
