Light Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2004
I was not impressed with these cookies at all. They were so flat and they lacked taste and texture. I was really looking for a tasty light chocolate chop cookie recipe, but unfortunately this wasn't it. It's more satisfying to eat half of one of the "Best, Big, Fat Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie" from this site than to eat a whole one of the cookies in this recipe.

Grandma's Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2004
I have only recently discovered the wonder that is the Crock Pot, so I was looking for something healthy, tasty, and free of red meat. This exceeded my expectations! It tasted great and was filling too; an excellent dish for these cold New England winters. I put it on low around 11:30, and by 6:00 I was eating a fabulous meal. I did add a splash of lemon juice, but that was my only change. Thanks for this great recipe!!

Waffles II

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2004
I have used this recipe several times and it always yields great results. I usually add a bit of vanilla and cinnamon to the mix, but overall it works very well as is!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2004
I thought this was pretty good, but everyone I served it to at Thanksgiving thought it was incredible! I did make a couple of changes, most notably including fresh cranberries because I like the tartness they provide. I did add about two tbsp of honey to account for that. I also used flavored chicken sausage (since I don't eat pork), which also turned out to be quite tasty. Will definitely make again!

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: May 6, 2003
This dough was excellent. It had just the right amount of sweetness. (you can also substitute honey for the sugar) I preheated a pizza stone in a 500 degree oven, and then placed the dough on the stone, topped it with a little bit of olive oil, some crushed tomatoes, mushrooms, oregano, rosemary, sliced tomatoes, and mozzarella and baked it at 500 for about 12 minutes. the result was phenomenal. i was glad that i invited friends over for dinner - it made me look good! thanks for sharing!

i couldn't get the consistency i was looking for, even after adding the bean liquid reserve, but the taste was very good. i got many compliments on this dish. tasty with chips, carrots, or whatever. thanks for sharing.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2003
this was great - i added a bit of mandarin to the mix and the salsa turned out very well. i did use ten tortillas however, and ran out after about 75% of the salsa was consumed. next time i'd make more tortilla chips. but great recipe overall.

Grilled Mediterranean Vegetable Sandwich

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2003
this was great - i actually got two foccaccia breads and did one with the mayo spread and one with olive oil and herbs. both were great and got excellent reviews from my partygoers (vegetarians and carnivores), and they disappeared faster than anything that i've ever served a party before. so tasty, and light too!

the consistency was a tiny bit off, but it garnered many compliments and was perfect with "chocolate frosting" from allrecipes.

Oatmeal Pancakes II

these were hearty and tasty. resist the urge to flatten them with the spatula though - they are much better when they are fluffy!

Very Berry Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2003
I added 1/2 cup of sugar to the recipe and used frozen blackberries and raspberries. they turned out very well. cooking them at a high temperature allows the outside to be crispy and the inside to be squishy. a really good muffin that you don't have to feel guilty about eating!

Christmas Creamy Egg Nog

quick, easy, and tasty! i added about 2 additional tablespoons of sugar and a bit more vanilla, and i used 1% milk to keep it light and it worked very well. everyone loved it!

Classic Gingerbread Cutouts

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2002
i had to add about a half cup more flour to the dough in order for it to be workable for the cutouts, and the surface needed to be heavily floured. but once i figured that out, the cut outs came out well and they cooked in about 6 minutes (contrary to the 8-10 minutes in the direcions). the icing was so easy - i did a few colors, put them in small zip bags, and cut the very tips off the bags and voila! it was a big hit with (and great activity for) my party goers!

Spinach and Mushroom Pinwheels

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2002
i didn't mind the work that went into these. the dough was easy to make and work with, and the filling was tasty. for some reason, my second roll turned out a bit better than the first (as in it held together better) but i think that may have had something to do with flouring the surface really thoroughly - that makes it much easier. they were a hit at my holiday party and they looked great on the plate!!

Seven Layer Dip I

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2002
i made this recipes without the meat for a holiday party, and it was a big hit. i thought it could have used a little something else, but i'm not exactly sure what. possibly hot sauce? i think drizzling a little hot sauce over the top might have made it even better!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
the lasagna was very tasty, but there wasn't enough sauce. next time, i would add a bit of tomato sauce at the end of simmering so it would spread a bit easier (this would be particularly helpful with the no-boil noodles). but the ricotta mixture is great, and the brown sugar was the perfect addition!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2002
it was definitely easy to make, but not garlicky enough, and somewhat dry. i should have read the other reviews prior to making this. next time i would put leftover garlic oil in the pan to add flavor and add some spices to it as well.
